Number of shock absorbers

I have a 1998 Beaver Patriot Ticonderoga with a Magnum 8 bag chassis. All discussions and even the Beaver Coach Sales centre in Oregon indicate I should have 8 shocks, 4 in front and 4 rear. I do indeed have 4 in front, but there are only 2 in the rear. I have looked very carefully to see if there are any mounting points for 2 shocks which could have conceivably been removed, but there are none. So it would appear this coach was manufactured with only 6 shocks unless I am seriously missing something!
Any thoughts or knowledge are greatly appreciated.
