I've been trying to find a wheel to use as a spare for my 88 Mallard TT, unsucsessfully. I was wondering if anyboy knew where I could find one, it's a 15 inch, 4 Lug that bolts to the outside of the drum.

Have you tried Ebay by chance? If no luck try Craigslist .org there may be something there for you.

I will keep an eye out too.

Good luck.

I wonder if we have one of those in the scrap pile at the farm. We've got bits of scrapped RVs all over.

What measurements would I need to get to make sure if you have on it'll fit?

Also are there any RV "Junk yards"? All the junk yards I've ever been to only have cars, I wonder where all the old RV's and Boats go to die?

There is an RV salvage place in SW Missouri...don't remember the name.

Try some of your local tralier, whell and frame stores.

Haven't been able to find any at any of the RV or trailer stores, they all say it's too old and no one carries them anymore.

Not sure what you mean by wheel and frame store? The local tire shops only have the newer 5 lug wheels.

i googled "mallard rv". it is made by fleetwood. try their owner relations customer service at 800-445-3307.
the website says there is an owners group which may be a source of info.

I can give them a shot. But from what I understand the Mallards made by Fleetwood today really have no connection to old Mallards, but really just a modle name. As far as I know Mallard was a stand alone manufacturer until it went out of business in 1992. They must have been a pretty small company as I haven't been able to find much information about them.

I think that style of wheel only came in one size. Worst case you may need to upgrade to new spindles so you can go to regular 5 bolt rims.

We do have a couple of that style, but the trailer their on is one that someone stored with them and forgot about, so no salvage sadly.

I don't know if I'd have to change my spindles, but definately would have to change the hubs, which may mean just ne drums, of may mean whole new braking assemblies. At that point it may be better to upgrade to disc brakes.

I don't think that the Rims are proprietary to the Trailer manufacturer but more by the axel manufacturer. Unfortunately Dexter is the only one that comes to mind. And for what it's worth they sold the wheel business to another company. And that company doesn't make them anymore. So I'm thinking used. Don't know if they are all in business yet. But here is a list of used parts places. My 1977 Holiday Rambler had that style wheel on it also. Good Luck

Got to snoopin after I sent the first response try this link. Unfortunately they are closed presently as you can read. But if you keep watching maybe they will open again shortly. If you click on the link and then go to Wheels & Accessories then scroll to the bottom of the page. If you can wait it looks like they may have something to help you.
