Power steering on a 1990 Oshkosh Safari

37' 1990 osh kosh Safari Serengeti diesel Pusher with 8.2 L Detroit engine and Allison? Transmission

My steering has always made a Noise when I turn, like a loud humming, but lately it's like the power steering is failing. The hydraulic lines blew on one of the leveling jacks and I'm wondering if the fluid reservoir is a shared one for the two systems

steering

i have a 92 Osh Kosh 34RQ diesal. the leveling jacks all have there own hydrauic resorvoirs in the cylinders. try a simple thing first..get a suction gun and suck as much power steering oil as you can from Powersteering pump resorvoir. then add a jug of Lucas Power steering conditioner. then top up wih new PS oil . fire it up and go for drive. mine did same as yours when first got it. i actually did that process 2 times and the whining of the pump stopped.Just a idea before you take it to a $120 hr shop.
