There should be a sticker under the hood listing the refrigerant type and amount of charge. If you are going to charge by weight, you need to first leak check the systems, then evacuate the system to dry it out and charge by weight. You should really have a low pressure and a high pressure gauge on the system to properly evaluate the performance. There may be more problems than just low on refrigerant that will require diagnostics.
