Refacing cabinets and luxury vinyl plank flooring

Anyone had their cabinets refaced? I am not pleased w newly purchased sprinter with dark cabinets. Many curved surfaces but I do not think that should be a problem. Light woodgrain cabinetry would be a huge plus

I think new modern flooring would be a significant upgrade. We just had luxury vinyl plank flooring installed over our tile floors in florida and it looks terrific...why not also do the rv.

Interested in hearing from those who have done this

I've done both and I can tell you I am very pleased with the results. I did not stain the wood, however, I painted it with a high-end paint, it was well worth the effort..speaking to that it is always about the prep..always don't cut corners.

First upgrade I did on my Coachmen Class A when I got it was to replace the flooring where the original linoleum was.

I used Adura Max - vinyl plank flooring because while it doesn't stick down to the subfloor, each plank stick together with a self adhesive strip. Its real easy to work with, all you need is a box cutter to score the material the bend it and the score mark splits.
The only this I did to prep was to remove the trim molding at the floor to make it easier to get the old flooring up.
Figure about $3 a square foot for the cost.

As far as your cabinets go, the big box-mart has new paints that will go right over your old finish with a little prep work... (Just use lots of drop cloths and masking tape...) Just a light sanding ("00" steel wool) a good primer and the color of your (wife's) choice...

Don't know your refinishing experience, but . . .

If you're talking about cleaning off all of the original finish down to bare wood and then refinishing that to some light woodgrain, be aware that some of the finishes can soak quite far down into the grain and be very difficult to remove. That's one reason why so many people end up painting the old wood cabinets.

As for the LVP in an RV - it works great! Just be sure to maintain the recommended gaps around the edges.
