Replace cracked lap seal, or tape it?

Hello, I picked up a 2000 22’ Kustom Koach class C and now have some work to do. Vents on the roof were sealed with thick lap sealant, I believe, that is cracking badly, and is so thick that it traps water up there. Should I scrape it all out and replace it, or go with an eternabond type tape? I believe that the roofing material is a layer of rubber - pretty faded pinkish stuff. Seems to be holding up, but I really want to get all the cracked sealant gone.
There’s probably a great thread here covering this but I haven’t come across it.

There are may roof sealant threads use search click Google option ...Search "Dicor"too. Which is large piles of cracked sealant I would scrape it off. You have to take care of with rubber. They make hard plastic scrapers and razor blades. Feel free to use steel scraper on the metal parts. You can use some amount of heat from a hair dryer or low temp on a heat gun. Dicor is to go to sealant for rubber roof. If butyl tape under a roof vent is still decent, no need for tons is sealant. I don't understand why people make huge curbs of sealant. Enough to cover the screws and fill the edge.

Thanks for the advice 153. That Google search works much better!
BTW can anyone tell me how to post a picture? Do I still need a separate picture hosting site with a link? Hope not.

To post a pic I always use the phone app since I always take my pictures on my phone anyway. You can actually hit the button pick from gallery or snap a pic right then into post. I've probably posted a hundred pics it only had one that may have been the wrong orientation. If you're much better typing on the computer you can edit a pic into the post within 30 minutes. Or just create your title include your pics and then edit the body of your post on the PC. I can type about as well as I can text both are pretty slow. But my phone also has voice to text so there's that. I also store a couple hundred pictures from my motorhome in my phone. Tags, locations various parts Etc if something comes up I can post a pic to share.

Thanks 153. When I hit ‘the button’ (I assume you mean the yellow square with the mountains) it tells me to enter the URL of my image. You say that you are using the Phone app. What app are you talking about?

So I hijacked my own thread here. Back to my roof. My RV dealer relieved me of all my money yesterday and sent me home with two products.

Champions Choice Protect-all RUBBER ROOF CLEANER - which appears suited for use in campsites where water may be scarce.

Plas-t-cote RUBBER ROOF COATING - which I will paint on and apparently extend the life of this rubber roof considerably.

My question then … I have already cleaned the roof with copious water and a soft scrub brush. And I’ve scraped away all the old lap sealant exposing all screws and joints. Do I bother with this expensive rubber roof cleaner, that you don’t even rinse away? Seems like it might interfere with the roof coating optimally adhering to the rubber. Thanks for any input!
