Replaced the HCV on my 1996 Vogue Prima Vista 37'

Probably not that interesting to most but I replaced the Height Control Valve (HCV) for the front air springs on my 1996 Vogue Prima Vista 37'. The original valve was the Ridewell 1423 (see this description: https://daytonairsuspension.com/coll.../ridewell-7423) and I found a replacement that was VERY close in terms of fit and function in the Haldex KN27000. They aren't identical but the only real issue is that the new valve uses 5/16" mounting bolts instead of 1/4" and they weren't supplied. Since it is important that this valve doesn't rotate on it's mount I decided to obtain new bolts and enlarge the mounting holes a tad... not a big deal other than the trip to the hardware store.

The people at Dayton Air Suspension were very helpful in helping me select the valve (https://daytonairsuspension.com/).

If I can figure out how to post a picture you'll see the valve body cracked near the port on the right side.

Wow! Is that a plastic valve body? I hope the replacement is metal for peace of mind.

Yep... definitely plastic... as was the replacement. After seeing your post I looked online and don't see anything that would be a direct replacement in all metal construction (granted this wasn't an exhaustive search).

I was doing this work myself and the number one criteria for me was to minimize the time I had to spend under the motorhome so replacing with "bolt on replacement" was important to me. If it fails again in 20 years that will be someone else's problem

I'd be curious to know how many of these are plastic vs metal construction. Most that I stumbled across where plastic but that could be because I was looking for a direct replacement to a plastic unit.

I'm not trying to diminish the importance of your observation... just relating my thought process.
