Replacing Awning fabric
Several member of our camping club have had dammaged awning fabric and found good solutions that didn,t involve total fabric replacement that can be costly. Take your fabric out of your awning tube9carefully0 might need a helper. Take it to a boat shop that does fabric repair or a company that does canvas awnings/tent repair. Than can insert a piece if the top where the sun delaminates it. See what they can do with your rips ect. Some shops charge between $80.00 and $100.00. Cheaper than total fabric replacement at $400.00 or more. Most shops will only do these small repairs in the off season.

I found complete awning replacement fabrics on ebay for less then $400. Well under $200 ordered, received and I am waiting for warmer weather to install.

I need to replace or repair the awning fabric on the MH we're buying. I haven't seen the condition, I was told the hardware is new but the fabric is not. My question is probably a no brainer but I'm going to ask anyway.
When you measure it, they are talking about from one side to the other, not how far it extends right?
I wish there was somewhere online I could find stats for the MH we're looking at. I can't find tire size, awning size ect. It's out at a farm in storage now so running to look at the numbers on the tires and measure isn't convenient.

Measure center post to center post (vertical posts). That is how to determine the length of fabric. My posts are 16' center to center. That gave me about 15'3" of fabric.

My rv was 15 yrs old and a small rip showed up. I thought of repairing it until I got it down. It was rotten through and through. Buy a new one on E-Bay

It was a bit tougher to install than I was planning but not too difficult. I found the instructions here: http://hmcclub.homestead.com/awning_...structions.pdf

Where do you find the model number for the awning? I know it's an A&E Systems because the book is here but it covers several models. 8500, 9000, 9500 and Grande Pavilion.

When I unrolled the awning, the model number is on the roller tube. To measure the length, measure the distance from arm to arm. If you start from the right side of one arm, measure to the other right side of the arm. What you are looking for is the actual center distance.
The awning fabric will be about 9-12" less than the distance between the arms.

I plan on replacing the fabric on my A&E 8500 this week (hopefully) and found the information here most helpful, thanks for sharing! PPL out of Houston also seems to have good prices on awning replacement fabric.
