Sticky Kwikee Step
We have a 95 Bounder 34J and haven't had any issues with the steps until the other day upon leaving to have our foggy windows repaired in Hudson FL.
We started the coach closed the door and the steps would retract...nothing, no noise or anything. We flicked the switches and just about the time I was ready to cancel our appointment I flicked the rocker switch on the dash a few times and voila! I heard the steps retract.
I'm wondering if this is a crusty switch issue or an early indicator of a problem.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to do a health check on this unit? I'd hate to be camping and have an issue.
Also...should an issue arise, is there a manual override to retract the steps in the event they do so on their own?
Thanks!

Lubed lately? CRC Power Lube (spray can) every 30 days and after rain runs keeps them happy.

99.99% of step problems begin with lack of lubrication.

Sometimes a tapping the the motor helps to unstick it too.

Is that CRC power lube like a clear silicone or white lithium or something else?
Thanks!

Something else...teflon based...not sticky....won't hold dirt...lasts better than silicone.

Yes, I have had this happen to me numerous times. Sometimes once a month, sometimes a couple times a year. I whack the power window motor with a wooden club or hammer. Not too hard. Make sure the power is off so you don't lose your arm or bend the steps. Don't whack anything plastic under there. Repeat as necessary.

Mine was doing the exact same thing as the OP. Mine was a control box problem. I ordered the replacement kit and installed it. It works like a charm so far.
