Oops, forgot to mention we're changing rear springs in the purple car, and finding all sorts of little things, first the springs are deffinatly shot, and the picture is the rear slider bolt and bearings, they were seized up not allowing a smooth transition in the corners, which explains why it was so erratic

The spring thing has been bothering me. Those bearings are off the shelf you can buy just about any machine supply. In fact they are available at Wally's in Yuma, I've got some there in fact.
They're sealed so the sand and water coming off the track shouldn't be an issue. So it has to be thrust load or impact loads that cause the failure. The easiest thrust load remedy I can see would be a sleeve over the bolt between the sides of the bracket with bronze washers. Impact remedy might involve more substantially rated bearings. Another option if impact is suspected would be the placement of valve spring in place to reduce the impact at full extension.
Good luck. This is another of those things that need to be shared if you think the competition deserves it. It might also explain the superior performance of coils and trailing arms.

Terry,
Glad that you found a reason why the handling was so erratic.hopefully it is the only reason.

Hi guys, off to Glenridge speedway tonight, we'll see what happens with the changes, with the work on the rear we didn't swap out the engine yet, just did a good diagnostic on it, compression, leak down ect. For an old race engine it's surprisingly in good shape, all comp. readings are within specs and less than 2% leakage, leakage is the rings though. New tune up while there and it's as ready as can be, next we'll do an oil and filter analysis.

Good morning! Glenridge speedway report, LOL. Last night we were fast off the trailer, set fast time in the hot laps, Andy got 2nd in his heat, track had a 50 lap sportsman feature just before ours so we knew the track would slick up, we set the car for conditions and pulled a 5th place start position due to handicapping, at the start the car ahead of Andy just didn't get up and go like we needed so the whole line on the outside got by, but Andy picked'em off one by one and got to third, best part is we've solved the handling problems we've been plaged with, car is still down on power but we expected that, probably will be swapping motors soon. This weekend is one of my races ar Fonda speedway

Terry,
Glad you got your handling issues resolved. Sounds like the 2008 motor deserves a freshen up, It has earned it.

Terry I was wondering about the rebuild of the sealed motor. Does it have to be done by an approved vendor? Or can you do it and then have it inspected and re-sealed by special vendor?
Congrats on a good night. Y'all were due one.
