Trying to quiet my Onan down

Have a onan gas generator..model nhe..replacing carb on it tomorrow and looking like I am having to remove generator from motorhome..it is mounted to a metal frame that bolts to metal rails that is part of mh structure ..would like to try and fix generator so not so noisy..if I was to find some leather belting or rubber washers to put between the generator mounting tray and the rails would that help with noise or make it worse?
Also seems to be lot of noise coming from the big cooling fan..would there be a way to help reduce noise from it..I notice it blows pretty hard down on ground so would putting something on ground help reduce any noise..Say like a piece of carpet or ?????

Do a search using "quieting Onan generator".

we used this under the dog house and it really helped noise and heat: https://www.thermotec.com/products/s...at-control-mat

Perhaps you can use it und the motorhome floor and sidewalls to keep the noise out of the RV?

If there's room, I'd use something like this:

At one time I tried to quiet mine down in a 1988 Gulf Stream, I pulled it and checked the lower end , thinking the rod bearings were shot. They were fine so I checked the Valves. Readjusted them to specs and it helped tons. Mine has rubber mounting pads between the gen frame and mh frame. If yours is on an older unit pre 2000, they're only so quiet, not at all like the newer generators. The old units were the driving force behind Quiet Hours.

yeah, what the genset manufactures figured out was that to make them quiet you have to have an integrated solution. the big box around it is part of that, keeping the various pieces of ductwork, etc from vibrating is part of that, as was going to liquid cooled.

Easy solutions are the rubber mounts to the frame, stuff like dynamat on the box and the RV structure around the genny, valve adjustments, and surprisingly, the fuel pump. Interrupter pumps are awful noisy even when isolated. I used to be able to hear my little FACET cube pump over an unmuffled race engine. After one of the mounting ears broke off from metal fatigue I replaced it with one of their new plastic pumps - all the time thinking I was getting a cheaper, less reliable piece of trash, and it's worked longer than any of the metal ones I've had and you can't hear it run at all because the plastic damps the chatter so well.

The owners manual for the Onan in my old '88 MH said you could mount lead sheeting a certain distance below the bottom of the unit to help muffle it. I never did that.
In our current '99 Winnie I used Dynamat under-hood insulation on the walls of the generator compartment. I went to a different generator set-up so don't have a direct comparison but it is real quiet now. I also used the same product under the coach engine cover and it quieted it down alot.
