Those little tear drop trailers have been around longer than some people may realize.

I'm not sure how far or often this combo actually went down the road but I'm betting it was a white knuckle experience. That trailer looks huge behind that 54 Ford car. No weight distribution hitches back then either.

How about some Subrbans? I've owned many and have always been a fan of them as well as the IH Travelall.
Here are a few Suburban camping pics from 1935...

1960-63 GMC Suburban camping in the snow. I like the 2-tone paint on both truck and camper!

A close relative to the Suburban was the K5 Blazer and GMC Jimmy.
Here are a couple of ads showing them in their "camper" versions available from the factory. I actually knew a guy that had one of these back in the 80's.
I always wanted one of these super rare factory campers but never found one that was for sale.

I have had a dozen or so Suburban's and K5's over the years. Lots of beach camping with those setups.

Awwwww, the Chalet. 29 yrs old and in between career changes I tried selling Chevys. If you sold ten vehicles in a month you got your demo for free, average commission was about $100.00 per sale. But they had the exact copy of the Chalet in photo on the showroom floor with a $2,500.00 bounty for the salesman that made it go away. I was there three months and it was still there when I left.
