The Dodge pic is interesting. I did not realize they had a crew cab in 1969…I never saw one. The camper looks cool but I’ll bet with the wind drag - gas mileage got down to 5-6 mpg.

Naah - that D200 had a full floating rear axle - she was up for that task.
The cool part is the truck camper though.... it would look equally at home for the era on a set of pontoons!

The cars towing 4500lb campers. Now someone mentions towing one , you better get a ton dually diesel and a Banks kit.

My parents Camper was a 1959 Holiday Rambler popup
Back then the sides pulled out not the ends
Pulled by a 1958 Ford Country Square 9 passenger
younger Borther and I slept in the Square Mom made curtains
Older brother slept in the camper with my parents
We had a lot of good times and Wife and I continue to camp

But gas was $.35 a gallon.
I remember the family 455 Buick Electra getting 12 mpg at 70mph. That was before overdrive transmissions were standard fare.

I thought the same thing.
I ran across these weird house boats years ago and thought they looked like truck campers.
