New to motor homing. I turned on my water pump and filled the tank. I have run pressured water to the back side of the pump. That is to say I have run water from the foist to all the valves and out side shower. I have run and think all lines are full. The pump seems to have water on both sides of it. The pump runs but I have no water. When I run the pressured water all valves work. Is there a way to prime the pump I am not doing? How do I determine if the pump is bad?

On my coach there is a valve lever I have to turn to select city (pressurized) water, or pump (from tank). In general, the pump's source will be your fresh water tank, not city water.

I have a 1991 and maybe they have the same water system. I am not sure what your
problem is are you saying when connected to city water everything works but not on self contained water supply? If this is the case sounds like you need to check the several valves in the water management bay and make sure they are turned to the
right setting. One on my unit is hard to see unless you poke your head in and there it is.
As I recall without looking you have hot water line drain, cold water and tank drain, water tank to pump, city water and in the bathroom hidden is a hot water bypass.
Also on mine there is a screen filter on the input to the pump it is a bear to take out
and clean but they have been known to get clogged up.

Are your city water attachment and your fresh water tank fill separate, or do they use the same connection?

If they use the same connection, there will be a valve nearby to select city water or tank water.

Even if they are separate but next to one another, there may still be a selector valve.

If they are on opposite sides of the coach, then you probably have a pump issue.

Checking the filter that is just upstream of the pump FIRST is a good idea.

Do you have a valve or drain that you can open just downstream of the pump? If not, can you get the pipe off the downstream side of the pump?

Either way, open the drain or remove the pipe and run the pump briefly; if water comes out under pressure, the pump is ok. If no water or little water (and the filter is clean) you will probably need to rebuild or replace the pump.

If its original equipment, there are better and higher gpm models out there to replace it with. Like this one. An easy DIY.

PS: I suppose the idea is to leave the switch on and the pump works on demand?

Glad it worked out for you hope I have the same luck on our new one we are moving stuff into. The manual states one thing but the manual does not even agree with it's
self or the MH.

Generally, when using a pressurized source, you will not need to use the pump at all. Only when using water from your fresh water tank will you use the pump. And then, yes - you can leave the switch on and the pump will cycle as necessary to keep the system pressurized.

A side note, if you hear the pump cycle when no water is being used, you have a leak in the system somewhere or a faucet open. Time to put on the investigator hat and find the leak.

Again thanks for all the information.

My next problem is the hot water???

I turned on the switch for water heater polite and nothing! Then I took out the breaker on the heater itself and put it back! Walla "Spark and fire". But now the fire was on for awhile but no hot water? There is water from hot taps but its cold. I thought after awhile the tank would heat up and it seems warm in the cabinet but still no hot water and the fire is off now? Any suggestions?? Again a 1990 Pace Arrow 33'

First question is there water in the hot water tank?
This requires you to open the pressure relief valve on the tank and see if water
is pumped out. If there is no water pumped out you need to turn the hot water bypass valve on. I do not know what the difference is between a 1990 and 1991 in locations but on mine the hot water tank is located outside with the bathroom located inside. Make sure the drain plug is put in ( it may not be) go into the bathroom and you should have two drawers pull the bottom one all the way out and
look in the opening. You will find a valve handle turn it on then check to see if tank
fills. Problem should be fixed.

That did it!! Thanks I found hot water in the tank. The valve under the draw in the bath room seems to be a three way? I new it was off and turned it on but seems one way on is cold and the other way is hot!!! Thanks again....

Glad to help just remember come time to get ready for cold temps the whole thing has
to be drained and taken care of or you will regret not doing it.
