Welcome to iRV2 .
Tire size is limited by rim width and off set on dual wheels .
Offset " AKA rim spacing" prevents the tire sidewalls from " kissing " under load.
Kissing ( sidewall contact ) causes sidewall wear , overheating and blowouts.
Tire manufacturer's web site will give rim width and off set requirements .
For a motor home chassis with the axle probably near or at it's load capacity I would not recommend spacers of any kind.
Perhaps the best thing you can do for your friend is to take him with his RV loaded for travel over the scales , get front and rear axle weights and total RV.
To compare to the chassis GVWR , FAWR and RAWR
It's virtually impossible to make an overloaded RV handle well .
