acceptable date on new tires

In the Kitchener/Waterloo area.

Looking for new Michelin or Toyo tires for my Class A DP and the best date I'm being offered on new tires is 0122 (already well over a year old!!).

1. Is this common post COVID? Feels wrong to me.

2. Can anybody reco a tire place where they've had a good experience in my area.
Thanks!

I don't accept any RV tire DOT dated more than 3-6 months old.

Skip426, thanks. Not as of yet. But I'm going to certainly ask for one if I can't find better dated tires nearby.

I'm being told by a couple of distributors that this is now the norm in Canada

Here in Canada we're a small portion of the market so I suppose that's normal , I guess I was lucky when I bought my Yokohamas and they were less than six weeks old . ( pre Covid though )

In the middle of Covid, my Toyos were 6 months old. I would not accept 12 month old tires today.

We were in Arizona and traveling to Alaska. We wanted to get all new tires before crossing the border. We contacted Les Schwaab in Oregon and asked them to get us tires that weren't older than 6m. We drove up there and they were ready for us..... 3m old. Pleased with the service.

I just bought 2 new Michelins X Coach Z. 295x80x22.5.
In April 2023
Dates were 12/22.

My 2020 Horizon had 2017 tires, but I knew they would be that old since the Maxum Chassis was only built until 2017.
So my new motorhome had 3 yr old tires and a 3 yr old chassis.
But it’s the best chassis ever designed or built for Winnebago.
The only lower rail chassis ever built for a motorhome. I would say it’s the best ever for a production unit.
But the American Coach Liberty Chassis is a close second.

But that’s ok, I have 47,000 miles on them already and had to replace the steer axle tires due to an alignment issue that was corrected in April.

Just ordered new trailer tires and all four were made this year.
Guess it all depends on who you buy them from and how long they store them.

You could call other areas & have them order them in for you and then take a nice trip to get them installed and continue on your journey! That's what we did.

If they want the sale, they will get you what you want. In all the years I have been buying tires for cars, trucks, trailers and RVs the dealers 'found' what I asked for.
