Days in USA????
I can not get an answer from any government site or anything else on how many days we are allowed in the USA.some say 180 others 182. I would like an official site to confirm staying time. Trying to call the government sites is a waste off time.thanks Tux

From Grok:
" The typical visa length for an outside visitor to the USA depends on the type of visa they are applying for. For most short-term visitors, such as tourists or business travelers, the B-2 Tourist Visa or B-1 Business Visa is common. These visas are typically valid for up to 6 months per entry, though the exact duration of stay is determined by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the point of entry. The visa itself may be issued with a validity period ranging from 1 year to 10 years, depending on the applicant's country and reciprocity agreements, allowing multiple entries during that time, but each stay is still usually capped at 6 months. For example:
- Citizens of countries in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) (like many European nations, Japan, or Australia) can visit for up to 90 days without a visa, using the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), but this is not a visa and cannot be extended.
- Other visa types, like student (F-1) or work visas (H-1B), have different lengths tied to the purpose (e.g., duration of study or employment), often spanning years."
So, if you are from a VWP country, you can visit for up to 90 days without a visa. With a B2, the limit is six months.

For the sake of 2 days we stick with the under180 day rule and have done so for the past 25 years coming from Canada. No idea what site as I asked a border agent when crossing years ago and was told that. We also don't want to risk being banned for 3 years from entering the USA because we have overstayed! We also were told we can get a special visa for longer stays of up to year which we don't intend to do anyways.
FWIW, we actually stay a good week or two less than the 180 day limit as you never know when something might detain you in some form or another or you need to fly back down to retrieve your RV being repaired somewhere at a later date or other reasons!
Would 2 days make a huge difference to your plans and wouldn't it be prudent to allow "some wiggle" in case of an incident that detains you than run it right up to the wire? Again if you want longer apply for a longer stay visa option, many have and do for year long trips and the like as one offs.
PS: Also there's a form for logging your days in the USA if you come year after year based on 6 monthly visits to prove your connection to home not USA. Think it's for taxes and alien reasonings but not sure exactly we just do it and have a log for many years of when we've entered and left the USA in case ever an issue in the future.

If you can't get an exact answer, plan that the deadline is 180 days & leave accordingly. Why stress out pushing it to the very last minute of the very last of 182 days?

You are getting 2 answers because one is USA and one is Canada, they vary by province. USA is 180 but your province may be 183 or whatever - and thats total per year, so if you spend 6 months in the states over the winter and then fly to Europe for the summer you'll be way over.

I hope whatever has come up is serious enough that if you had any mechanical delay on your return, the numbers of 180 or 182 don’t care.
Just sayin’

Given how crazy things are in the US, I would not push anywhere close to a limit on a stay. I can imagine a worst case scenario being you try and exit but you are a day over the limit. I think things could get ugly enough that you could get "deported" and your RV confiscated. Just play it safe and get home as soon as practicable.
This is just an opinion based on some of the totally crazy things happening these days.

Is two more days really worth the stress? Plan for 180 days.
