Will we have trouble locating diesel fuel in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. We are almost packed and the husband wants to know if he needs to carry extra fuel containers?

Thank you for your help. (we are leaving Sunday morning the 26th)

Hello Bill& Nancy. You should have NO problems finding fuel on Canada's east coast. The Irving oil company, located on the east coast will be glad to sell you all the product you can use. Any of the other major oil companies there will help out as well.
Enjoy your trip, and if we can help out in any way...just let us know....Brad

Oh, one of those 3rd world country questions.

I wish people with these questions, would go check on dealer locations for their trucks in the places they want to visit.

Or discover, www.google.ca, click on circle for pages from Canada

Then enter things list 'gasoline prices'.

What you could find is that you can find out exactly what is available for what price.

Regulated gasoline. New Brunswick Energy and Utilites Board: http://www.pub.nb.ca/PetroleumProductsEng.htm Changes occur each two weeks apparently on a Thursday, July 5, 19, .......

Regulated gasoline . Nova Scotia petroleum pricing rationale: http://www.gov.ns.ca/snsmr/petroleum/ There are 5 zones with prices lowest in most densely populated areas, ie. center of province. Links on left show current prices and zones. Prices can change weekly on Fridays, 24 hours after New Brunswick..

Regulated gasoline. Prince Edward Island Petroleum Pricing Notice http://www.irac.pe.ca/petrol/docs.as...rentprices.asp Very nice you can see exactly when to keep your ear to the ground, the 1st and the 15th, but the approval is given a few days before effective date and the lines ups can be something else.

Regulated gasoline. Newfoundland and Labrador Petroleum Pricing Office:
http://n225h099.pub.nf.ca/ppoprices.htm Regulated prices are released on Thursdays, at least once a month, often on a bi-weekly basis. Prices are lowest in this order: Avalon Peninsula, Corner Brook through Gros Morne, Stephenville through Port aux Basques. The Gander-Grand Falls central region is 6th highest.

All of that is on file to be added to the articles on RVing in Canada, which is both in my signature and a sticky at the top of the page.

It is not a THIRD world question. I also asked the same question of the highway patrol for Montana and Wyoming. But I got a more polite response.

???? Huh, you thought some part of the US other than non-highway sections of Alaska were so terribly remote???? HUH.

The population of Nova Scotia is more than 800,000.

Yes, we get these questions. It is too bad that my being direct offended you. Can you think of how such a question is received? & yes, that's exactly what the question says. Many Canadians won't tell you so, just think it.

Now, if you knew that Labrador has around 30,000 population, yes, it might make sense there.

Please do a little research before talking down to people.

All combinations of words are open to different interpretations.

Why you are digging your heels over <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">if he needs to carry extra fuel containers? </div></BLOCKQUOTE> throws me.

If that doesn't say, 'are deisel stations so spread out that the average truck can't make the next station,' what did you think it said?

Like few rvs come up the 'wilderness of Atlantic Canada'?????? There is far less wilderness in these 3 provinces than there is in the Great Smoky Mountains, NC & TN

Please, the purpose of this forum is to exchange information and help out our fellow RV'ers. I found the original question neither silly nor "talking down to people"
As our neighbours, I Welcome Bill & Nancy to ask for all the information they require to make their travels in Canada a memorable experiance.
Please, lets not let this develope into anything more than a friendly information exchange venue. Like all forums at iRV2.com, no personal attacks will be allowed. Thanks

The basic question was answered in my first post.

http://www.gnb.ca/0113/cameras/camera-map-e.asp
http://www.gov.ns.ca/tran/cameras/camera.asp

http://www.gov.pe.ca/tpwpei/index.ph...1016836&lang=E

Those webcams links can show the major arties in all 3 provinces. As can be seen all are suited to larger vehicles, such as delivery trucks or transport trucks.

Generally, in all of North America trucking has replaced railroads as being the most cost effective way to deliver goods. The exception would be shipping by sea. Many such trucks use deisel fuel.

Bill and Nancy,

you will have little difficulty finding diesel as most small communities will have at least one station that will have it. You might find accessability with the trailer attached. I have found that the best place to fuel is at the "Big Stops" - the Irving owned travel plazas.

They have a locator website HERE. I put in the country, province and checked diesel and got 74 stations for NS alone.

What I have noticed, and seems to work for me, is that I take the truck out and fill up without the trailer attached before departing, and I can make it to my next campground without the need for fuel.

In short, the further of the beaten path you get, the only increase in difficulty might be maneuverability as the stations will be small - but diesel is readily available.

Hope this helps
