For those Canadians on their way home.

Just in from the CSA ( Canadian Snowbird Association ) as of midnight tomorrow ; Thursday March 26th 2020 ; the Canadian Government is invoking the " Quarantine Act " if you cross after that time and don't ," Self Isolate " for 14 days , you can be fined , up to $1M or jailed for up to 3 years .

Once you cross into Canada you must go STRAIGHT HOME for 14 days , do not stop for groceries , or anything else. Get home and phone out for deliveries of food and anything else you require.

I would have added this to another post , about those NOT adhering to the Self Isolation rule , but it's been closed .

Moderation is for the budget conscious. Common sense dictates system design. Politics and social engineering are for another forum.

Just an addition to this post to bring it back around to the new posts and provide a follow up .

While you're at home for your two week isolation period , contact your travel medical insurance company ; or broker ; and see if by coming home early , you qualify for a rebate on the cost of your travel medical insurance .

I contacted my broker who submitted on my behalf , and had a rebate within 48 hours . Almost four times what I expected .
If you had no claims while in the USA and came home early , apply for a rebate .

Are there still Canadians down south that haven't lost their medical coverage? I had friends that insisted they weren't coming home until the end of April. One phone call to their insurance provider changed all that. They have been home since the 23 of March. This was the last day of coverage after the govt announced the 10 day coverage period starting on the 13th. Coming home early for snowbirds means winterizing their rvs, and a list of other problems. While Im sympathetic to their problems, I don't think I would want to be out of country in this situation. We were supposed to leave Canada in February to meet up with our friends in Texas. We cancelled our trip. Im glad we did.

What happens if you cross into Canada in BC and your home is in Nova Scotia?

There are 3 other RVs from Quebec in this KOA in PA I stopped at on my way home to NJ. I assume they are heading home from snowbirding?

Stock up before you cross the border and only stop for fuel and sleep. An rv parked at a walmart will attract attention of the authorities...... if they see you walking towards your rv with groceries i dont know what the enforcement level is.

Makes you wonder. Having no medical insurance when you are in the high risk category, and in a foreign country sounds like a recipe for bankruptcy, or death, or possibly both.

Supplementsl Insurance policies apparently vary. A CDN couple in s FL park we just left are heading home "early" Apr 6th? As their policy covered them. They full time and trying to avoid temp issues back home in Ontario.
