Insurance

My husband and I plan to go full time RVing this summer after I retire. Looking for information on insurance for full time RVers. We live in Alberta.

Thanks Skip for responding. Looking for RV insurance. Don’t plan on going into the US this year. Plan on going to BC in the winter.

Have you checked with your current insurer and what they can do for you?

They don’t cover full time. Only quote I’ve been able to get is $15,000.00 a year. Which I think is ridiculous. Totally clean driving records.

For $15,000 a year , I'd leave my house sitting empty and drive back to it every two months and park in the yard.

Perhaps someone at The Canadian Snowbird Ass. would have some info to share.

www.snowbirds.org

There have to be some Snowbirds that full time .

I use CAA Insurance. I switched to them for home and auto and saved a bundle. I don't know if they do full timer RV insurance?

The ONLY carrier that would provide a quote on our coach due to its original purchase price was AVIVA. No one else would offer coverage on anything worth over $200K.

Even though we are not full timers, we too have had quotes of over $10K per year, depending on what agency we contact. We eventually contacted RV-Direct, who were able to get that down to just under $4000.00 per year. We have not found any other suppliers yet.

What did you eventually do to get coverage, and on what value/size/age of coach?
