Hi all.

We are planning a trip from Chicago to Alaska this summer in our 45' Essex and hopefully going through Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon, but have read on the RVCanada.com site that the maximum length for a motor home is 12.5 meters and a combined length of 20m to 25m in Canada. Is this true? Do you need a special permit to enter or will we be refused at the border?

Not to my knowledge, as they are selling 45" MH's here in Ontario, and as far as I know the regulations are accepted in all of the other provinces.

Thanks for the info, just did not want to burn $1,000 in Diesel to find out I can not get pass the border.

Hey Highball,
Funny you should ask.
I live in Ontario & will soon be hauling a 33'travel trailer & wanted to know if I could Weld hitch on the back for my boat.
So I stopped by the Weigh scales & talked to the MTO.(Ministry of Transport for Ontario)
They said that MAX TOW LENGTH FOR RECREATIONAL VEHICLES IS 23M OR 69.69FT.
You can haul multiple units as long as you stay below 23M.
They also said that they were NOT CONCERNED about a Vehicles GVWR or tow capacity as long as you were not hauling a large trailer with a car. THIS POLICY ONLY APPLIES TO RECREATIONAL VEHICLES.
Every province has different REGS When it comes to towing.
Most good RV Magazines like Woodall's have up to date Regulations for each Province.

Yes there was.
You require trailer brakes on anything with a GVWR of 1300kg or about 2800lbs

Hey Deerslayer!!! Good info I thought it was the same as Commercial at 75' I guess Recreational as with the Drivers License No 'D' is a clause of its own!!!
