Awfully strong words. I did not post any rumours or any "BS". Do the research and you will quickly see there is a problem. What I posted has been in every major newspaper and every major network in Canada. Some of these seniors lost all of their savings. Manulife is ruthless. They have a questionnaire that when given to a Dr. and a lawyer they both stated that they could not answer the questions and know they answered it correctly. If Manulife deems the answer incorrectly you are denied coverage. Other insurance companies do not have these types of questionnaires.

When you see Insurance companies using weasel words like "Pre-existing conditions whether diagnosed or not" as a way to deny a claim, you know you have a problem and need to stay away from that company...Once insurance companies have your money, they are very reluctant to give any of it back.

Sorry I wasnt referring to you. I just dont care to read the stories theres always to sides to every story. Manulife is a big company and probably no different then any of them. The bigger u are the more complaints u will get.

I wouldn't deal with an insurance company that did not mention which pre existing conditions are not covered. Of course they dont want to pay ...they are a buisiness. If you lie or dont read and understand your policy then you might be in for alot of grief if something happens .

I agree with many of your comments; The bigger point is that All Insurance companies are not equal. Many seniors have pre existing conditions yet they are stable and should be covered with no issues. I was once denied short term travel insurance through CAA after I told them my pre existing condition (Heart) was very stable and "in fact they had lowered my medication"...That statement was all they needed to deny the insurance because they consider a drop in medication to be experimental. If you and your doctor answer all questions honestly, no one/family should ever have to worry about having to hire a lawyer to assert your claim when insurance is needed...All policies should be black and white...no weasel words.

I would prefer caa to deny me insurance rather then take my money and deny a claim. You were smart in mentioning the medication change upfront instead of them finding out for them selves in the event of a claim.

Let me just say that I totally agree. Manulife are a ruthless bunch of bandits. I have had first hand dealings with them. I'm pretty certain they have a stamp that reads DENIED. If they find you had a pre-existing condition you are pretty much screwed as well.
And no all big insurance companies aren't the same. Some actually have something called Customer Service which is excellent.

Blue Cross works for. My wife has a serious chronic illness and after a ton orpf research they seemed best for us. I have my standard non- travel medical insurance with them as well.

HI Moxy,

Why not simply post the contact info here? Is that against forum rules? What makes this individual so grand? Why are you promoting the individual? Just a few questions, hope you understand. I ask as I am researching carriers now.

Thanks!

TIS is a good choice. Manulife does not deny coverage . Their 1-800 contact in case of an emergency company does the dirty work. They have a 3rd party that examines every claim. I swear this 3rd party gets a bonus if they deny a claim. I have had 2 battles with Manulife and unless you are proactive you will get nothing!

It really is worth doing your homework when it comes to medical insurance, and I too have heard the horror stories of Manulife! Good friends of ours with Manulife found some 'technical' term within the contract giving them the ability to wiggle out of a claim, when my friends wife ended up with a serious infection while in the U.S. (they are Canadian). In the end, there was the cost of the lousy insurance that they thought gave them the coverage needed, but in the end it cost her better than $20,000.00 for her hospital stay. Needless to say, they certainly don't use Manulife any more!
They initially had a MH they used to go from their home in the Vancouver area, down to Palm Springs, but recently sold the motorhome and bought a park model unit on a pad. They fly back and forth, but he's now in his mid 80's, so he is still paying in excess of $5,000. for his medical insurance (for six months) and I've now forgotten what his wife pays.
After going through all the research of finding the right motorhome, your next big research is for getting the right company to get your medical insurance with. I keep hearing BCAA (AAA in the U.S.) is the way to go, but that is just hearsay to me, as I haven't researched it as of yet.
Wouldn't it be nice if someone could just say company XYZ is always up front, and very rarely doesn't pay out their claims!! I suppose that would mean they would adhere to morals though.
