Here is Canadian Border Services Agency Web Page for Visitors to Canada . That gives lots of links for things to check out. There is another thread started yesterday on a very similar topic. If you look down in this section, you will see it.

Also, passports have been discussed a lot recently. The U.S. is going to introduce a card which will be cheaper than a passport, which you will need before long. There is no difference in what is required for travelling in Quebec. Right now it makes things faster to have one of those recommended IDs. If nothing else make sure to have your driver's license. Some also find a birth certificate useful.

I'm not sure what you mean by the eastern coast. Atlantic Canada includes the provinces of: New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and, Newfoundland & Labrador. If you look at the thread in this section on Summer Plans, you may see some information useful to you.

If you want more, just ask. Brad03ca and I have both travelled a lot in Atlantic Canada and 2Roadrunners lives in Quebec.

araucano,

Where you confused me was putting words eastern coast and crossing into Canada together. I pictured you crossing at either Calais or Houlton, ME.

Having spent from age 5.5 to 17.5 in Pennsylvania, I would tend to say either eastern seaboard, or New England for U.S. side.

Of course, I think Atlantic Canada has many things for the tourist.
