Provincial campgrounds are receiving upgrades.

I've just listened to the provincial government minister responsible for provincial parks. There was quite a long interview over what is being done. Dump stations, kitchen shelters, board walks on trails, replaced comfort stations, and got this: hydro.

IIRC Cheeseman @ Port aux Basques, Sir Richard Squires where the salmon jump, Barachois and two others.

RVs were specifically mentioned.

The interviewer asked particularly about competing with private cgs. He wasn't overly prepared for that one. It took awhile, but he did get around to the argument that has always won, having natural areas for people to enjoy. Governments have to have the cgs to get people to come and hike, boat, etc.

Very Glad to hear the government is finally going to do what is needed to encourage more tourism. The province sells itself, but in order to increase RV tourism, fully equipped facilities must be available.
Currently, Lockston Path P/P, in Trinity is the only park with water and hydro on sites, with a new laundry/comfort station/ dump station.
The proposed up-grades can only inhance the NL "experiance"

The Ontario Parks are pittyfull never have I seen more poison ivy and poorly kept parks in My life as the last few years. The Pinery is a big mess ran by kids that have no idea what they are doing and that is a fact as We were there and had a eye and ear full of it.I was let down to the point that We left and went to a private park down the road.No Canadian should have to do that but We tried to get them to straiten out the mess after three returns to the gate and no help We left with our Grand Kids. After all every trip was 1/2 hour they over book and say sorry but that is not My fault.I say It is but Kids running that place and it is a sad reality and a joke. The Managment needs a shake up big time. And the kids need training or replaceing come returning to school they will be gone. And that is none to soon.Bushman

The operations of most P/P are now contracted out. Ontario gets most of the revenue, and the private contractor makes his money. As is obvious, the paying "schmoe" is the actual loser. Every one is so hungry to get their piece of the action, they forget to feed the goose that laid the golden egg.
A letter to the apropriate "minister" may be the answer?????
