Snowbirding from BC

Hi , fellow BC Snowbirds , just a quick note for those ready to cross on the way south after Nov.8th border opening.

A member from the Seattle area has posted about Rest Area closures along the I-5 ( due to homeless with RVs taking over the areas ) Washington state MOT has shut them down .

Google maps shows the closures , North of Seattle and I haven't had time to search the areas to the south .

So if you're planning an early morning crossing, on the 8th, then stopping for a nap or meet up to convoy with other RVers , better rethink a stopping place.

Here's a couple options for those headed South .

One is just North of closed Smokey Point Rest Area and the other is just South of the Rest Area.

Exit 208 , Rt. 530 and I-5 , large truck stop about 1/2 mile East of interchange .

Exit 202 , 116th St. and I-5 , Donna's truck stop West side of interchange .

Both have plenty of parking , good access to fuel pumps and quick on and off to I-5 .

Come on , Ben , you know I can't function without my 3 cups in the morning .

Seattle traffic on the 405 is bad enough, I'll have often have time for a bathroom break .

Bill , thanks for the additional info , I do see on Google maps that , Bow Hill rest area is not showing blocked access like Smokey Point does . Google maps don't show mile markers best guess , for Bow Hill RA, would be MM240 .
My regular fuel stop; Exit 232 is south of Bow Hill .
With the expected rush south I'm expecting fuel stations to be crowded perhaps even shortages .

Every time I get caught in a traffic jam (especially going thru Portland ), you never actually come to a complete stop. Just crawl along about walking speed, watching your trans temp climb!
Guess I could just put the 4-ways on, run back for a wizz, and listen to a hundred horns behind me blowing !

Ben , are you using the 205 around Portland . 11 miles longer than staying on the I-5 but quicker 9 times out of 10 .

Many times I consider 97 as a route if not coming through Portland / Seattle on a weekend or able to time travel to avoid rush hour . Last trip north through Seattle was 9PM.

Yeah, I've done well coming home, hitting Seattle on a sunday afternoon.

Football season is over, so don't have to worry about that traffic.

Likewise , but then I'd overnight at Smokey Point RA to avoid the Border crossing till Monday AM , to get away from the cross border shoppers heading home , and if not visiting in Richmond , stay away from ferry traffic till Monday afternoon . RV travel is a juggling act .

EDIT: Ben; rain has stopped , time to get back to loading the coach .

You're just a little ray of sunshine Ben.

I've managed to trample the grass between the house and coach , I'll need about four (dry) hours to complete the load out .
Right now going through the house seeing what , I took out of the coach ,over the past 19 months , that needs to go back in .

While it's raining ,I'm visiting the OR. traffic camera site to check conditions on the Sexton Summits and the Siskiyou.

Next May , first good weather day , my place , burgers and beer.
And we'll talk bout how I almost became your ( across Manson ) neighbour.
