We are thinking of taking the RV to the balloon fiesta. Has anyone done this, and would they recommend doing it? Also, if you have, is the presidents compound worth the $125 per night?
Thanks in advance for any information.

We attended the balloon fiesta 3, soon to be 4, years ago, and it was well worth the trip. We did not stay in the President's compound and fared very well in the "low priced" area. We had a load of water and empty gray and black tanks when we arrived and still had clean water when we left. We met lots of great people and some of the ballooners. By all means, you should attend.

I cannot help you with the RV part as when we went we stayed in Santa Fe (closest place we could find) since we decided at the last minute to go. However, the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is a sight that you just have to see to believe and you have to go down on the field among all the balloons, especially at night. It is really something. We'll go back and stay the week at the rv park one of these days I'm sure. Go and enjoy.
By the way Don, I noticed you are fairly new here on iRV2 so welcome aboard, just in case no one else has.

By all means go, but be prepared to pay higher prices. All private and public RV sites more than double their normal rate for the fiesta. Typical RV spots go for $70 plus a night.

Hi Don, We have been to the Balloon Fiesta three times with our RV and would go again in a heartbeat. We've always stayed in the dry camping area. They have shuttle buses come by your rig every 15 min. to take you to the grounds and back at no charge. We usually stay four nights and buy advance tickets for five days for the price of four. You can make your reservations and buy tickets on line. That's what we do. It's usually cold in the mornings, so take some warm clothes. It's an unbelievable sight to see over 700 balloons in the air at one time. You can walk around the field when they're taking off, with 100,000 other people. It's a real blast! And everything is usually over by noon....you have the rest of the day to enjoy Abq. Any more questions, let us know.
