Free camp sites in the southwest

I'm familiar with Quartzsite and the Slabs. Are there other places that are commonly used by RVers in the southwest during the winter months that are free or very inexpensive to camp, i.e. around Yuma, Lake Havasu, etc.
Thanks,
Larry

free camp sites

Free campgrounds.com may have something or maybe you could add something for others. I am always looking for for cheap or free sites.

Look in the boondocking threads here and over at Escapees RV Club – the club for all RVers forum. I would suggest that you set up a listing of some sort to keep track of it all.

We have the Wright book "Free and Cheap Campgrounds" (western edition) FREE Campgrounds -- West and I keep these sites on my computer (in no particular order)
DOI: BLM: National Home Page

And don't forget the State Park systems.
If you know what city or county you are going to, search based on the location. there are many city and county parks that simply don't end up in many guides (which is why I like Don Wright's books)

Imperial Dam LTVA BLM area near Yuma comes to mind. Much like what you find at Quartzsite and just a short trip south.

Answering my own question :-)

I was digging around and found this website. It is very informative and has some great suggestions on boondocking sites.

Boondocking in Arizona

Overton, Nv

We stay in Overton, NV. There are thousands of acres of public land just outside of town where unlimited boondocking is free. It’s a small town with very friendly folks. We love it here. It’s about an hour north of Las Vegas and about 40 minutes south of Mesquite, NV.
