Help, Abilene TX to Lubbock Tx!

Hi Guys! Heading west. I'm currently in Abilene Tx, never been in Tx before, traveling on I20 and wish to go to Lubbock TX. I'm in a 43' MH with a toad. We can't decide which Hwy is better: more rest stops, better roads, nicer RV parks, 84 or 87, both go to Lubbock TX. Any ideas? We do stop (rest stops) every 40+mins having only 1 driver. We need FHU and 50amps. All ideas are welcomed! Thanks!

Both work fine. But 84 is the most direct. Neither has “rest stops” or much in the way of good campgrounds. It’s only 160 mi between the two cities.

Take I-20 west past Sweetwater and 84 will split off and take you to Lubbock about 2.5 hours later.

We travel this often. The road is good and not too bumpy. Typical for Texas it’s a high speed road.

There are a few picnic areas, but we find all of them either hard to get into or rutted and in disrepair.

There is not much of anything on 84 until you get to Lubbock. Snyder is the main “town”. We take 84 Business route into town and pull into their “Colosseum” parking lot to stop for lunch. It’s a huge parking lot and when no events are going on it’s a great safe place to stop.
