New Mexico

Wife and I start traveling full time on Aug 1. We're looking for a good place to stay 2 months in New Mexico. Looking for suggestions. Need,

1. Cool weather
2. Good wifi and verizon cell phone service (still working)
3. Good monthly rate of $300-600.
4. Space and good road access for 42' 5th wheel.

Prefer:

1. Lakeside with covered boat dock
2. Nice park

Just done a week in Alamgordo. Lots to do within 100 miles, but didnt see any water. Lots of desert tho. Must be some around Carlsbad, saw some boats there. Maybe a native will jump in.

In August, there is not much in the way of cool in New Mexico. The coolest would be Heron Lake or El Vado lake, both state parks.I do not know about wifi or cell phone service. Eagle's Nest SP might be cool also. By "cool", I mean 80's instead of the over 100's at Elephant Butte or Brantley. There is also a 2 week limit at the state parks.

Cabello Lake State Park campground is nice with a 14 day stay limit, it's near Cabello Lake. Also a few private campgrounds on Rt 187 near the state park. Cabello RV Park 575-743-0502 was $150 per month last year, I don't remember if they had a pool but it looked nice from the road.
Several RV parks around Truth or Consequences, Elephant Butte Lake is nearby.

To find cool this time of year you need to look toward the northern part of the state.

We're staying long term in Portales NM, near Clovis, and HOT is the order of the day recently. We visited Chama in the mountains near the Colorado line, nice and cool. There is a lake near there but I can't find the name now.

There are two lakes near Chama, NM. One is Heron Lake adn the other is El Vado Lake. There are state parks on both lakes.

Thanks for filing in the blanks Kix. We went to Chama to ride the stream train which was very nice. Great campground in Chama, the train crosses a river right next to the campground.
