Looking for a nice place to stay on the coast of California for about a month. Would like to have any information on RV parks near Trinidad, Klamath and/or Eureka. Love Redwood trees. We don't have little kids with us, but we do travel with a really nice dog.

We have read several camping guides, but there is nothing better than personal recommendations. Thanks for your input.

We can personally recommend Sounds of The Sea RV Park & Spa just north of Trinidad and almost across the street from Patrick's Point State Park. We stayed there twice in the past 7 years and love the location, the sounds of the seals barking, and the close proximity to shopping (Arcata) and the redwoods. It is far enough off 101 that you won't hear traffic noise.

When you are in the area be sure to have a meal (B,L,D) at the Samoa Cookhouse. As you pass through Eureda the signs will tell you how to get there. The nice folks at Sounds of The Sea will give directions, also.

Paul, or others..

What are the campground site lengths in the state parks there. Typically, the SP's have pretty short campsites.. but these might, hopefully, be a bit longer.

BTW, I had been to the Samoa Cookhouse years ago and loved it.. returned about 5-6 yrs ago and was a bit disappointed. I'll have to try it again.

Check out the California State Parks Web site (http://www.parks.ca.gov). They have pretty complete information on facilities, including length limits.

While the CA parks website gives lots of good information about their respective locations, it is seriously out of date. Specifically, the length of sites are understated. Our complete rig measures 48' when hooked up and we have always been able to find a site where we can stay overnight and stay hooked up. You won't find 48' sites mentioned anywhere, but they exist at virtually every state park.

The other thing to remember about CA parks, except for Morro Bay, they have no site electricity, water or sewers. Morro Bay has a few 20 amp sites w/water, but they usually go fast during the peak season.

Thanks Paul.. that's what I LOVE about Oregon parks. They are GREAT. Can't figure why this great state of CA er Confusion.. can't do the same. Shuffling monies off to "special projects" I guess.. can't wait for the other half to retire.
