Which road from S.L. Tahoe to Bakersfield?

I took 395 to 88, 89 to 50 and on to Nort L.Tahoe. The windy roads were a buzzard! Looking on a map at 207 to 395. How is the drive pulling a 30ft 5th wheel? Or, should I take a nicer route, road? Small roads were horrible on the way up. Please help.

If you just want to get there and want an easier drive I’d take 50 west to 99. Easy but of course not exactly scenes on 99. The only other choice is 50 east to 395 which is easy enough too.

Oh yeah 207 aka Kingsbury Grade. That’s an easy one. Good road all the way. Plenty easy pulling your trailer but it is a grade down to 395. No issues though. Good route.

I agree with R Wold. 50 to 99 would be your best bet. Windy from Tahoe to Placerville, then fine. I’d avoid Sunday afternoons in the summer. The back up in P’ville can be frustrating.

I live in Carson City and my choice would be 50 | 395 | 14 | 58. This route is only ~35 miles further than 50 | 99, but avoids the congestion and idiot drivers on 50 westbound and 99 south.

Thank you all for the replies. We settled on 50 to 395 as the misses wants to tow. We agreed after Bishop, she can tow.

It will be nice to get home and see our dogs, sleep in our bed, and get ready for the next adventure.
