Heading that way in June and we need some "can't miss" spots

Hubby and I are taking to the road in June with our MH. He is retiring from the USMC and we want to see the North West of the country, it is the only place we have never been/lived.

Obviously he wants to see Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone.

What else do you recommend?

We will have a 5 year old, a tiny dog, a truck, bikes, and Kayaks.

Western OR & WA weather is best in mid July to mid September when it is too hot in many other places. How long do you plan to travel? Higher elevations are also comfortable during this time.

Eastern WA & OR are considered high desert if you want visit these areas over the summer, make sure your stops have lakes or rivers since the temperatures will be in 90's or warmer.

How long do you have to check everything out? I would suggest Crater Lake, Painted Hills, Multomah Falls and stop by Fort Stevens on the coast. It's an old military base that's been converted to a campground so your hubby might enjoy the military history on it plus lots of bike trails. You guys will love the northwest!

While you are near Yellowstone you might as well drop down and see the Tetons. We drove this route on our way to Alaska. If you have time Glacier National Park is worth seeing. If you have passports you can cross over into Canada and see Waterton National Park.

On our way back from AK we dropped down into Washington from Canada and spent some time around Seattle and then drove along the Pacific Coast all the way to Napa Valley CA. The Oregon coast is breath taking, very scenic with plenty of small towns to stop and explore.
