Hi Tom & Patty. Hope ya had a good time. We've been out only once so far this season. A bunch of S&B stuff (including a kitchen remodel now in progress) have derailed our RV-ing plans this year it seems.

I just bought an Indiana State Parks pass for $40. That means we have to camp in state parks 7 more times to break even. We had better get busy.

I remember our kitchen remodel. Dishes in the bath room sink, cooking in a hot plate and grilling. I am sure it will go well!

We will make it to Ohio once again this year to try out another great park. Although I wouldn't mind a return visit to Kelly's Island. Sitting on the shore, listening to the waves......zzzzz

Hi, fellow Hoosiers!

I just signed up for this site but regularly post on other forums.

It's nice to see others who enjoy our state parks. We have a two year old son and our goal is to take his picture in front of the sign at every Indiana state park.

We will be at McCormick's Creek (site 30) from 8/7-8/10, at Deam Lake (site D13) from 8/28-9/1, and Brown County (site 94-we consider this our home park and our home space!) from 10/15-10/19. We're also pass holders so we have to get our park visits in as well!

Feel free to stop by if you will be at any of those parks on those dates and I'll invite you in for a beer/soda/water!

Patty and I drove through McCormicks this past weekend. I think we marked only 8 sites as being able to accommodate our coach without blocks. Site 172 is a fantastic one. We drove through Paynetown, stayed there before but lost our map, and drove through Hardin Ridge. We marked sites at Paynetown and Hardin.

We wouldn't mind catching up with you in the future. This weekend will find us at Mississinewa, Salamonie or Kil-So-Quah. Kil-So-Quah is on Roush lake by Huntington IN. First come first served. We will check it out tomorrow, Thursday. If no sites are available we will move on to Salamonie.

We cancelled Deam Lake for Labor Day weekend and are probably going to go to Hardin Ridge instead. All of the reservable sites are taken but we'll take our chances with walk-up. Will probably head down Wednesday instead of Thursday to have a better choice of sites.

Wow, a lot of these sites at McCormick's Creek are tight to get in and out of. We were not able to make the turn and get backed in to our original site (30), so we moved to site 121. I've backed into some pretty tight spaces before, but I didn't feel like hitting a few trees on the way into the site!

That is such a bummer.....to have reserved a spot that asked how big your rig is only to get to the camp and find it impossible to occupy with anything bigger than a small pop up! If I entered that I have a 38 foot MHwith slides, why would they put me in such a tight location.

Ideas for 10/10/16 Central Indiana Sites

Wife has Fall Break starting 10/10. Looking for full hook up for 35 ft. class A.
this will be our 2nd outing (first was solid 2 days). Probably staying 3 to 5 days.

It "is" a bummer..........if you read the site description of Indiana State Parks on Reserve America, the length of the "pad" is listed. I have reserved many a site that would be too small for my coach if I went by the size of my rig but we lifted the "mud flap" and fit in perfect - including our tow. Read the pad length...

What I am starting to see more of is a "tree" problem. Our coach is approximately 12.6" tall - many of the sites that I would be good with, per the description, have low hanging trees.........or the roads traveling through the camp sites have low hanging branches that do leave scares on the rig or roof mounted equipment.

With FHU sites hitting almost $50 on the weekend and holidays ($47), I believe the state needs to take care of the trees........just sayin'...
