Thanks, Joe. It would figure, now that we've got plenty of wood, I can't use it. Dave's dad got a really nice hydraulic log splitter last fall (they got a wood stove put in their basement to help defer propane heating costs) & now we've got all the nice split wood & kindling we could ever use.

Thanks Jim!

Actually, the thing to watch out for are all of the over hanging tree branches. I scratched up the rig real good last year.

Bill,

You (& actually, all of us) should be in pretty good shape tree-wise. I looked at the aerial view on mapslive & it looks like we're in that clearing at the bottom loop of the camground.

But, if ya want, I can stand next to your pad when you pull in holding a tree branch.

I'm toting 6 pounds of fresh strawberries & 4 kinds of Cool Whip topping (one being strawberry - how cool is that, strawberry Cool Whip on strawberries?!?!?) for dessert - amongst other things I haven't yet decided upon. So, please tell the girls I've got strawberries covered.

And now... I'm going to ask the same question I asked last year. Which is the preferred way to get to the park now that most of you have been there? I reviewed last year's posting and it seemed that most were leaning toward the PA-8/US-62/PA-36 routing. What is the concensus now?

Frank,

I've always taken the long route going to Tionesta meaning I run I-80 to SR-66 North to SR-36. Basically it's the same route I use to get to Cooks Forest except I turn left at Leeper onto SR-36 instead of right to go to cooks forest. It's a simple route although a few miles longer then going North on 8 through Franklin and Oil City.

Another option, still running on I-80 is 66 North to 322 to route 208. 208 join up with 36 about 4-5 miles from the park entrance.

I've never run 62 in the camper and don't really remember the road to well. Also by having to pass through Franklin and Oil City, the shorter route might not be the fastest

Shelly, I, and the kids are thinking about bringing fixin's for mountain pies one night for supper. If anyone wants to join in and make it an official mountain pie bar, just bring your stuff and we can make all kinds of crazy mountain pies.

I'm thinking a Mountain Pie strawberry pie for dessert

And ya can top it with either the strawberry,or chocolate or extra creamy (or all 3) Cool Whip I'm bringin' --- ooooh, heaven! I'm bringing Lite Cool Whip too, for those watching their calories.

Frank, We come in the way Joe stated. It worked for us last yr.

Ahhhh... I keep looking and looking at all the different ways to get there. I think I'm going to be a maverick here and take the PA-8/US-62/PA-36 routing. From I-79 it seems like you're driving forever on I-80 to the PA-66 exit. I can be in (or maybe even through) Franklin/Oil City by that time. Most of PA-8 to Franklin is of the same quality road (and speed limit) as I-80. George said that US-62 pretty much follows the river so I would think there would be few hills to encounter.

Joe-K's route is the best when comming from the south. Stay off of 62. It's a no fun way to travel. Narrow, winding and full of trucks without regard to much of anything. 66 will also have trucks, however the road is wider, straighter and watched more closely so everybody behaves well for the most part (me excluded). You folks enjoy the weekend. I'm going to see if I can find time to drive down to see Joe's new Bus.

Bill,

I hope you have a chance to stop by the campground and catch up with everyone. Hopefully we'll have a chance sometime to schedule another group trip when we can get together.

I also sent you a PM

I like Joe's route better also. We went that other way couple of years ago when we went to that Oil Creek campground or whatever it was called and felt we lost alot of time thru the towns.
