I see they put 45' & 50' equipment size options in the drop down menus on the reservations. Now, those of us that know our state parks... just how many of THOSE do they think they're gonna get on the majority of pads they've got now?

L-

P.S. But the same flaw is still there. No matter what length of unit you put in, the search will still bring up sites available that ya can't fit on (like Alum Creek's 18' full hook up pads! for me).

My pet peeve is the description saying the site is level...I think all for West Branch claim they are level and they are not....as well as Salt Fork....Delaware has probably the only correct listing out of any we've stayed at and that's only in the dog section where we frequent several times a year. Those sites are spacious and as level as I could ever hope for.(Wish they had full hook-ups)

I agree with Woodburner 125%. At West Branch all sites on the website are listed as level . Not even close......While at Punderson 3 weeks back, about a 3rd of their sites are reserved for "tents only". A good deal of them are the nice level ones with room for a big RV with slides.
Were thinking about going to Vermont next Aug. and while on their State Park Campground website about half of the campgrounds have pictures of each camp site. This way you can get idea if you can fit your rig into a site. All it would take is one close-up picture and another picture say from across the street to give a person a idea if it is at all possible to get into a site if they have never been there before.

I noted, while checking on sites at Punderson, that all the FHU sites are listed as either level to moderate slope. Yet the disclaimer in the popup window when you click on those sites clearly states "blocks recommended". What the heck is up with that!?!? I could see moderate needing blocks & possibly slight if ya got a motorhome, but level, I guess, "level" is subject to interpretation.

I've noticed a couple campground websites doing the photo thing with their site maps. One up in Michigan even lets you see moving 360's when you click on the sites listed on their map. Now, that's the way to do it right.

Yea, Ohio needs to get with it!! Those full hook ups at Punderson will require your front tires up off the ground to get level. Hence the need for blocks on those "level" sites!!

On a related note, I did a quick check for OH state parks w/FHU sites. If anyone is interested (for future outtings) here they are:
East Fork, East Harbor, Geneva, Indian Lake, Mohican, Punderson, Pymatuning, Rocky Fork, Salt Fork, So Bass Island, West Branch.

More may come with the off-season rennovations I noted on some of the park listings.

Since we usually go for just a weekend, FHU isn't a necessity, but it can play into me more likely to go to it vs another just electric. As we all know, there's plenty of our state parks that have beautiful spacious sites that are just electric (like Delaware, Lake Loramie & Paint Creek), but having FHU could sway me - depending on if I can remotely trust the "level" designation on the reserve website.

Just had to make a post here.....

As you guys are talking of State Parks, this couldn't possibly have anything to do with me,but just saying "hey" anyway....

I'll keep a watch on the Piggie Plans to see if you're headin' somewhere I can fit....

Full hookup sites at Salt Fork in section G are level and spacious.. ..plenty of room for a big coach....the other full hookup sites there are a joke! No where near what their internet description says. When I wrote to ODNR about this early in the season; the question was posed to me "what would I have them do with their descriptions" I said it would be helpful to post a consice description that would aid folks with larger rigs....obviously my concerns/recomendations went unoticed....and we pay these people with our tax dollars.

There are some of our state parks that would fit even your rig. The G section of Salt Fork like Woodburner stated, Delaware has some even tho' they are just electric, Pymatuning has electric only pull thrus & so do some others that I can't think of right now. They may be few & far between, but we have 'em. So don't dispair - we'll be sure to find places you can fit your beast.

Woodburner-
What ODNR needs to do is spend the time to laser level & either excavate or raise pads on at least a third of the sites in each park so that level means "level". And quit hiring contractors that don't have a clue what it takes to put in or redo a site that's larger rig friendly. And if ya believe they'll do that, I've got some ocean front property in AZ I can sell ya.

#106 and #107 @ West Branch full hookup would fit that beast as would several of the pull throughs there....We've had large class A's camped next to us a couple times we were there using site 108. #108 would fit but I doubt you could swing that large a coach into the space given it is on the beginning of the turn.
