Ohio Turnpike rest stops / camping

In looking on line at the Ohio turnpike (TOLL), it appears that several of their service plaza's have '1 night only' hookups for RV's.

Several questions.

Heading eastbound thru the turnpike, are the spaces'long enough' for a 43' motorhome with a toad?

Are they always filled up or are they usually fairly easy to get a space? Or are they usually heavily utilized. Any feel as to when they usually fill up?

We will be traveling thru this area this Friday day and early evening.

I realize that they are first come / first served.

Thanks

Lee Baldwin

Stayed there one night WB and they were all back in had to unhook in down pour, the next morning stopped in the next WB and they were mostly if not all pull thru.

Next time I will google them to see what they got. They both had water and dump stations but the first one I could not get the water to work.

$20 for the night.

I stayed in one just west of Cleveland. I have a 28' fiver and it fit without any problem, but you may have a problem with the toad. You may be able to drop your toad in the parking lot close to where you are spending the night. It is a nice convenience, but $20 for a night of electricity is somewhat expensive in my book.

We just traveled the Ohio Turnpike. The Ohio Service Plazas vary in size.
The RV sites also vary in size at the various Service Plazas; some are pull-thru and others are back-in.

The Plazas with back-in sites are not long enough for your rig. You can view the Ohio Turnpike web site and look at the various Service Plazas; on the side of the page there is a small map that you can click on and see a street view.

The water and sewer dump are located to the side of the RV parking area and you can use the water and dump even if you don't pay for the RV overnight parking ($20).

The RV sites tended to fill the later it got in the day/night. We pulled in mid-afternoon and it was wide open.

The Ohio Service Plazas are very modern and clean. They offer decent food choices as well.

Seems like $40.00 is a high price to use the turnpike. There are several alternatives.

Yes if you travel through Ohio, the turnpike tolls are very expensive. My eyes have been opened though, after going through a few toll areas in other states. If you have a MH and tow something, its never cheap.

Ohio travel

Love traveling Ohio, especially criss-crossing from Michigan to West Virginia. Hwy 20, 250, etc. scenic, small towns, country eating places, Amish cooking, great campgrounds, friendly people, weather isn't bad either. But the COPS are tough. They will stop you dead in the road, shoulder or no road shoulder (hwy 4). You'll just have to wait, or drive around when you can. Enjoy this duct tape state.

The Ohio turnpike rest stops with camping are nice if/when you need them.
The alternative Ohio highways are free, (as is "overnighting" at Walmarts along the way), the scenery is more interesting, and the pace slower and more enjoyable.
(Besides, the $$ to travel the turnpike, and the $20 to park overnight, is slightly above my pay grade).

Thanks all for your responses.

I was hesitant about the Ohio turnpike but after traveling it - and having the ability to compare it with other states "interstate" type roads - I am of the conclusion - that yes, we pay for the toll - but that the convenience of a rest stop/fuel stop/ food stop all rolled into one is nice -- and to top it off -- the roads were less 'pot-holed' rough than the others.

Granted, this is a once in a 'while' trip for us - not a daily driver.

Luck to all on your travels.
