If you are going to the rally and would like to convoy, please post here.
It was decided at the Easter Rally that the Northern rouute (I30 to I40) would be used so the departure from Rayford Crossing has changed for some folks. More details to follow in this thread.

2. Don and Pat Allen
3. Steve and Pat Wilson
4. Harry and Judy Hartley

For the 03 National in Nashville, Rusty and I left Houston around 4 am and met up with the rest of the group in Hope, Arkansas about mid-afternoon. The next morning, we left around 9 am and made it an hour past Jackson around 5-5:30 pm where we spent the night. Then we left the next morning about 9 and make it into Nashville before noon. A nice drive, not too long and arrived in plenty of time each night to eat and sit around the campfire! Note: We had times to stop for gas, food, potty and hit every Cracker Barrel along the way too!
The 05 National will be several hours further. Rusty's checking the maps both the "southern route" through Louisiana and the "norther route" through Little Rock.
The trip CAN be made in two days, but it's a long hard drive each day. My old hinney can't take many of those hard days anymore, so I vote to split into 2 1/2 days if possible.
Everyone going can check their maps to see their best route. It's SO MUCH FUN to meet up with everyone and caravan in together!
Sandy

Ruppr -
I happen to like living in the past! , but if I have to I'll jump forward to 2006 right now!!!!
Rusty did some "figgerin" last night and came up with the following:
NORTHERN ROUTE - approx 1,041 miles
Houston-Texarkana-LittleRock-Memphis-Nashville-Knoxville and Sevierville
SOUTHERN ROUTE - approx 965 miles
Houston-Baton Rouge - Meridian Ms - Chattanooga - Knoxville and Severville.
There are now SIX Texas Boomers headed to Tennessee!!!
Allens, Wrights, Creekmores, Rupps, Wilsons and Hartleys! We're gonna have a ball!
We'd love for more Texas Boomers to join the caravan to National! Jump up to the 2006 NATIONAL RALLYthread at the top of the main forum and get signed up! It's not too late!
Sandy

[C.W. McCall voice on] By golly it looks like we got us a CONVOY! [C.W. McCall voice off]
Looks like the trip to the rally might wind up have'in as many/more stories than the rally itself.
Havin a recodrer connected to whatever type radio yall use to talk twiqst and between yourselves could be VERY entertaining.

How is this for a plan Boomers? Let's do Rusty's Southern Route.
We can stage all the wagons at Rayford Crossing on Friday morning Jul 14 for a planned 10AM departure.
Folks living a distance from Rayford Crossing might want to come in on Thurs night the 13th. (I certainly would plan to do this) to be readyto go Fri Morn.
Other folks in the area could just meet us there for "A Wagons Ho" (that's departure for some of you non wild west fans.)
We take Mr. Fauntrlroy up on his offer and round up the wagons in Baton Rouge on Friday Night after 288 miles on the trail.
Get a somewhat early start (say 9ish) Sat Morning and push on to Birmingham, Alabama about 400 miles. We'll have to find a corral there for us all but I am sure that should be easy.
Sun Morning the 16th we can point em for Sevierville some 280 miles on down the road. This should put us in the Park some time Sunday evening. My just look at that Texas Boomer Convoy !
I'd be willin to grill up some burgers and sausgage in Baton rouge and maybe we could do a simple pot luck in Bham.
Does this sound feasible
Any more ideas ?

Or yall can just WALK about 50 yards to "Brunet's". (Real Cajun Cookin that will not "Burn your tounge")
