Unfortunately, Sylvia and I are not going to be able to attend this rally, a medical issue came up yesterday and there is no way I can safely drive the rig that far this soon.

I was considering giving it a try up until late yesterday evening, but Sylvia had a fit saying I'd be foolish to attempt such a drive with a 34' trailer weighing about 14,000# in these mountains a mere 1 1/2 days after surgery. Realistically, she's right but I really wanted to go!

Plus, I'm on a couple pain medications that have that proverbial warning on the label about not operating machinery, automobiles, etc, while taking it. For those inquiring minds that may want to know what happened, I twisted my right knee and tore the meniscus on both sides of it. The orthopedic surgeon repaired it yesterday, gave me a pair of crutches to hobble around on, scheduled a follow-up appointment for Friday, and said not to drive for a couple weeks.

Sorry folks, but I WILL be at the next one in the fall! Y'all have fun!

Richard you and Sylvia will be missed, but think it is a wise choice to stay home and take care of yourself! We know you will be with us in thought and look forward to seeing you two at Whittier in Oct. Take care!!

Well dang Richard!! The only good thing about it is, 'if you was a horse they would have shot you'. Seriously do what the docs tell you. My daughter is a surgical nurse, replacing hips and knees and doing all sorts of orthroscopic surgeries. Some nasty things can happen if you don't let that thing heal right. We will try to have enough fun for ya'll in your absence, but we will miss you anyway.
Take care and heal fast. Seeya soon.
We are leaving early Thursday AM and should arrive some time after noon.

ROFL, Sure glad I ain't a horse!!

I had my first session of physical therapy this afternoon and go back Monday morning for another one. Supposed to do a couple of these a week for three weeks, and do the knee/leg exercises daily at home too.

A real PITA, I'd rather be camping with y'all!!

I'll be at the next rally in Whittier. By the way, the registration deadline for that one was extended until September 15, sure hope some of y'all sign up for it.

Y'all have fun at Meadows of Dan!

We got home today after spending some time in Mt Airy,NC visiting relatives. We had a small but successful and fun rally! It was great to see old friends and welcome new ones,Joe & Linda Jayne and Dee & Steve were a welcome addition to our group and we hope to see more of them.Great friends, great food and great weather-what more could you ask for?
Oh,for those that ventured down to Mt Airy with us for the infamous pork chop sandwich,Toms cousin won the annual contest by eating a grand total of 4 and started on a 5th one!

Holy cow, four pork chop sandwiches and part of a fifth? Must have been one hungry dude!

I'm sure glad y'all had a successful and fun rally, would have loved to have been there. My knee is getting much better every day, went to another therapy session on it today and was actually able to get out and mow some grass. (riding mower of course)

Hope to see all of you in Whittier in October.

Sorry John, didn't mean to slight you and Sue by not mentioning your names as new ones to the rally!! I was very tired last night and not thinking too clearly! You two were also a very welcome addition and it was great seeing you two and getting reaquainted after all these years! We hope you and Sue enjoy the X large Rubber Ducky boxers she won at the Chinese auction!! You can both wear them(at the same time!) We also hope it won't be another 30 years before we see you again....

Richard he only eats one meal a day so can really pack it in when he does eat! These are also not "normal" size pork chop sandwiches but require two hands and a stretched open mouth to eat, especially when you have one all the way! Really sorry you two missed this gourmet treat!

Tom and Dianne, Jim and I had a great time at the Meadows of Dan rally. Thanks for asking us to be a part of it. We enjoyed the trip to Mt. Airy, and the pork chop sandwich. Most of all we enjoyed the good fellowship with our friends, and our new friends we meet at the rally.
