Hi, Ya'll:
We just bought a new tow vehicle and are considering purchasing a "bra" for it, to minimize the pit damage which can be caused by towing.
I've been "surfing" and have found quite a few designs that appear to meet those needs. As with a bra on a MH, we realize that you don't leave it on all the time ... only when towing.
Anyone out there use a car bra for this purpose? I've seen several other alternatives of protecting the tow vehicle while towing, but most of them appear to be cumbersome and expensive.
Appreciate any thoughts or actual experience in this area.
Have a great day. Can't wait to see the Boomers in another week!

Hi Ron & Cheri,
I would suggest a rock guard over a bra. Evn if you remove and clean every day, you will have your paint abraided. Add a little water when it rains and the abrasion is accellerated.
I made my own rock guard from the front of our towed vehicle. I welded a frame of square tube steel and used a sheet of corregated plastic from Lowes. Total about $50 in material and a six pack of beer for my friend with a welder.
Since we have been on the road here in Alaska I have seen some neat rock guards constructed of PVC and 1/4" hardware cloth. Light weight and easy to handle and store. One guy had it so he only had two pins to remove it and he stored it in a receiver across the back of his coach when not needed. Of course with the hardware cloth you could drive the vehicle with the guard on the vehicle.
Take care and look forward in seeing you both in the fall.
On the road in Alaska.....currently in Homer, AK.

Hi, Jim:
Thank you for the info. Now all we need to do is find a friend with a welding torch, right? We'll continue to do research and see what else is out there for us.
Have fun in Alaska! Any photos to share?

Hey Cheri,
I was at the mall yesterday and Dillards had big red signs on the doors, Bra Sale save 40%.
If I knew the size I could pick one up for you, any special color.

IMHO the rock guard is the way to go, if you note my signature I never purchased a new car to tow behind my rig. I dont want to worry about dings, etc. But anyhow, Good Luck with your Toad, and see you down the road..

Lou,
I knew I could count on you. See if you can get me a 50% discount since I'll only need one half.

Hey, Capt Bud!
How are ya?
When you say ROCK GUARD, you mean the "skirt" that hangs behind the back tires of the MH, right? If that's what you mean, we have one. The bra was just for added protection.
Unlike you, we do very little research when we buy cars. At the time we purchased the Camry, we weren't planning on buying another MH. Can't tow it 4-wheels down, since they changed the design of the tranmission after the 2002 models and the Remco lube pump won't work on that model.
We only want one car so we'll be using this for pleasure and RVing. Not to say that RVing isn't a pleasure, but you know what I mean.
Anyhow, Ron traded in his Avalanche when we bought the MH only to find out later that we could have towed it. That was OK though, since I wouldn't want to have to drive the Avalanche to Wal-Mart. I need something where I can zip in and out in a heartbeat, but that's another story.
See you soon, we hope!
Cheri

Cheri,
I went to Dillards and told the lady what I wanted...she basically said I had two options:
leave quietly or be escorted. I don't think she is an RV person, what's the big deal I am sure you aren't the first one to need a bra for your toad? Then when I told her the owner of the toad only uses 1/2 of her own she got a little physical and I am pretty sure she lift and separated my ears..but the wires are a little binding. Maybe I should have tried Camping World?
Seriously, don't buy the "screen" that hangs from the back of the motorhome to the toad. I got one in Nashville a couple of years ago and ripped it up before making the FL state line.
What type of tow bar are you getting, or have gotten?
