Sounds like a lot of RV parks in Florida are being bought out by larger corporations this year!
First, thank you for your service & welcome home, brother!
Now, we're in our second year in a Summit owned property & the deterioration since last year has been terrible. It wasn't great last year, but the decline this year is unbelievable.
Corporate showed up but none of the campers were visited with, they just toured the property. Immediately following that visit things started happening that weren't necessary i.e. painting the office exterior & the bathrooms in the clubhouse; fancying up the entrance area putting in tiny houses & double wide trailers. In other words, they're putting lipstick on a pig & she's still a pig. We have pot holes around the park that you can bend a wheel in, cargo trailers all over the place to include blocking dangerous intersections. There's plenty of space for the park to park these away from the camping area but they want to charge so much people choose to keep them on they're site and it's allowed. Summit does seem to care about the people staying in their park but the almighty dollar seems to come first. It's very sad how rapidly this park is declining.
When we made our reservations we explained that we were getting a 40' & they insured us we would fit in the spot we wanted. When we arrived, we were told we had to move to the premium side because we wouldn't fit, of course the price doubled. "Oh but it's the quiet side," you'll love it. NOT, we have a "nut job" two doors down who goes off screaming profanities at an invisible being, he starts and revs up his very loud motorcycle, goes inside & just leaves it running, while he goes inside, for sometimes up to an hour & nothing is ever done about it. He's only one of the problems near us & I certainly don't mean this to sound like a rant, it's just that when you're paying this much, you expect better.
