What to see in N Fla in April

We're going to be in northern Florida the 2nd and 3rd weeks of April, generally along a Pensacola to Jacksonville line. Hoping to do a little boondocking and sightseeing along the way.

Anyone have any suggestions for places to camp or things to see along that route? Not looking for RV resorts or kid-friendly spots, more into peaceful and serene.

Thanks in advance!

If you get a chance go to the National Naval Aviation Museum at Naval Air Station Pensacola. It's free and fascinating. It's extremely well done. If I remember it's three floors. They also have IMAX theatres. Those you have to pay for but the films are generally very good. We went two years ago and didn't leave enough time. Next spring we're heading that way and will stop again. Definetly worth seeing.

Gets my vote at well. Been there a couple of times. Try to go on Tuesday or Wednesday when the Blue Angels are practicing. It is a great show.

While favorite is Mark Landing in the Apalachicola national Forest, 10 miles north of Sopchoppy. It's about as peaceful as it gets in an established camp ground. Can't beat the $3 fee.

The camp ground in Toreya State parkisn't particularly peaceful, but the high, steep bluffs provide some beautiful and secluded hiking. You won't believe you're in Florida.

If you're at all into birding, try St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. The main road can get a little busy, but on the trails, you'll be totally alone. Stop at the visitor center and pick up a map.
