Bob:
Can you tell us a little about Walnut Hills CG? Virginia in early summer could be right nice time.

It's been YEARS since I was in Staunton, had great Country Ham and Redeye gravy there.

Walnut Hills

While I've never stayed there myself,I've been in contact with several iRV2'ers in my area that have stayed there. I am very familiar with the area, having lived in Virginia all my life.

Their website has some points of interest on it,many of which have to do with EATING!!

I think we're talking in the $32 range, but I am going to call again this morning and try for a "rally" discount....Being brand new at this "organizing" thing I'm not sure which foot to put forward next...

Bob,

We are fairly new to RVing and to irv2. We do not belong to the MidAtlantic group. We are currently in southern California (we do not live here) and plan to be in the Virginia / North Carolina area by early June. Are non - Mid Atlantic people allowed to join in on your rally there? It sounds like fun.

Thanks

WELCOME to iRV2!!

Adrian and Barbara, I listed the "rally" in the Mid-Atlantic area simply because of where it is happening...

Also, while you will certainly find a lot of the same folks that post in these "region specific" forums, there are no "requirements" to be a member....All are WELCOME and ENCOURAGED to attend.
There are many iRV2'ers that attend the various rallies all over the U.S.,depending on where they might be traveling....just as yourselves!!
We would love to have you!

Let me know when you call the campground, either post it here or email me. All the instructions are in the previous post.
Look forward to seeing you guys there!

Bob,

Thanks. We will be on Lake Gaston in NC around that time visiting some friends. What town / city is Walnut Hills near? I am going to see where it is on the map in relation to where we will be going to see where we go first.

I'll let you know when we make reservations at the camp ground.

Adrian

Adrian,Walnut Hills is just south of Staunton and due "west" of Stuarts Draft...

Here's what is printed on their site...

I-81 NORTHBOUND
Exit 213 then right at end of ramp onto Rt. 11 South
Go to first traffic light and make a left onto Rt. 340 North
Go 2-1/2 miles north on Rt. 340 and make a left onto Walnut Hills Rd. (Rt. 655) (Make sure you clock the 2-1/2 miles because Rt. 655 will come upon you quickly)
Campground is 1/4 mile on the right
I-81 SOUTHBOUND
At exit 217; go to end of exit ramp and make a right turn and head west to Rt. 11
Make a left turn onto Rt. 11 and go 1-1/2 miles to Rt. 655 (Walnut Hills Road)
Make a left onto Rt. 655 - campground is 1 mile on left
I-64 WESTBOUND
Take exit #94 - and at end of ramp, make a left onto Rt. 340 South
Stay on Rt. 340 for 9-1/2 miles till you get to Rt. 655 (Walnut Hills Road)
It is important to clock the 9-1/2 miles because Rt. 655 will come up on you quickly
Make a right ontol Walnut Hills Road
Campground is 1/4 mile in on the right side
I-64 EASTBOUND
Exit #91 - at end of ramp make a right turn onto Rt. 608 South
Go to second traffic light (approx 4 miles) and make a right onto Rt. 340 South
Go 4-1/2 to 5 miles on Rt. 340 and watch for Rt. 655 (Walnut Hills Road) and make a right turn
Campgorund is 1/4 mile in on the right side

Hi Bob,
We are plaining a trip out west this year have not set any dates yet. If we are still in NC at that time we would like to make your Rally. It would be nice if you would have the Statler Bros. to come by and sing a few songs one night. LOL We love to hear them. I think that is their home town? We are going to try and get some plans worked out soon.
Jim
