We are sorry for your loss. Capt. Bud. May the grief you bear turn quickly to joy as you remember the years together. Someone has said that there is no safer place for a woman to be than to be walking with God.

Bud, so sorry. No doubt a tug on the wheel after a wayward gust will be Ruthie, happily cruising with you, helping when she can and enjoying the bliss you shared together in life, always at your side.

Bud, I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Ruthie, but it seems that everyone who knew her, knew a wonderful woman.
There are two pieces, in particular, that I find comforting. I offer them in the hopes that they will comfort you, as well.
WALK WITHIN YOU
If I be the first of us to die, Let grief not blacken long your sky.
Be bold yet modest in your grieving. There is a change but not a leaving.
For just as death is part of life, The dead live on forever in the living.
And all the gathered riches of our journey, The moments shared, the mysteries explored,
The steady layering of intimacy stored, The things that made us laugh or weep or sing,
The joy of sunlit snow or first unfurling of the spring, The wordless language of look and touch,
The knowing, Each giving and each taking,
These are not flowers that fade, Nor trees that fall and crumble,
Nor are they stone, For even stone cannot the wind and rain withstand
And mighty mountain peaks in time reduce to sand.
What we were, we are. What we had, we have.
A conjoined past imperishably present
So when you walk the woods where once we walked together
And scan in vain the dapple bank beside you for my shadow,
Or pause where we always did upon the hill to gaze across the land,
And spotting something, reach by habit for my hand,
And finding none, feel sorrow start to steal upon you,
Be still. Close your eyes. Breathe.
Listen for my footfall in your heart.
I am not gone but merely walk within you.
~Nicholas Evans
Standing on the Seashore
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!”
“Gone where?”
Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment when someone at my side says, “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout:
“Here she comes!”
And that is dying.
Henry Van Dyke

Bud, There are no words to describe the loss and pain you are feeling now. Carol & I are honored to have shared just a little of the camping adventures that you and Ruthie had together. She will be greatly missed by everyone that had the privilege of sharing part of her life.
