I’m further North (Ottawa Canada) and it’s brutal. Went for a walk with a respirator on but my eyes swelled and teared up within a couple minutes so went home. Air quality index has us at 10+ - which is as high as the scale goes. Supposed to improve by tomorrow night. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the offer!
I think we are going to cancel. We are within the 24 day cancellation window. The official prediction for July shows higher than normal wildfire activity for the next two months, With both our asthma and allergies active we are going to play it safe and stay in the southern mountains.

Rick, the offer still stands. Worse today here. We have a slight breeze out of the north east which isn't helping any at all.
I hear you on the breathing with my COPD too. I'm actually wearing a mask indoors. I don't know how anyone could put a date on when this is going to let up. Not until all the fires are extinguished that's for sure.
It's terribly dry all around here but no ban on outside fires as of yet. I suspect a ban will be in effect soon unless we get some rain for a period of time.
I lease 90 acres of land to a farmer friend who has corn planted. It's growing but slowly.

Central OH: The air quality is being labeled as "unhealthy for those with breathing problems" - i.e. asthma, COPD..etc. . Come Friday, it's supposed to be the worst we've ever had..."unhealthy" for everyone. I know the news is really hyping up this thing, but I guess it's like sitting beside a campfire at a campsite for days & days on end. So long as the fires in Canada continue to be uncontrolled & the wind here is out of the N/E, it's not gonna get any better any time soon.

I've still gone RV-ing, but it hasn't been as much fun being cooped up inside with the AC on all the time & limiting my outdoor time.

Be safe everyone.

Watching the local news tonight they were showing a high pressure area and a low pressure area a ways apart north of the border. What was said was the air between the two areas was being pushed south down into the US mainly over where I live. Of course this air is filled with smoke. They are expecting the pressure areas to break apart by the weekend. We can only hope.
I'm kind of used to these things. If I sit down at a campfire everyone else will move away from me. They know the smoke will always travel in my direction.

Yeah, unless I were to be there. Then, you'd be in the clear!

I am pleased to report things are much better here than they were yesterday. The air is perfectly still with no breeze at all. There is a slight stench when you are outside but this may be a residual from the particles left laying around. Even the clouds are sitting stationary in the sky.
I have warned everyone I know if they drive a vehicle of any sort to switch their AC's to recirculate so they aren't drawing in outside air. Let the onboard AC air filter do it's job. I have recommended to everyone to change or have their AC air filters changed when this subsides so they aren't breathing this tainted air forever.
It's nice being able to see more than a couple hundred yards ahead of you. I hope this lasts.
Lynn

We're in Central PA, where the AQ Alert has been extended into tomorrow (Friday, 6/9) morning. Further east toward Philly, outdoor recess/ gym has been suspended in schools. The air is thick, beigey- yellow, and hazy, the smoke smell is obvious, and particulates have made things very dirty, especially the (just-washed, of course) truck, picnic table, and grill. It's bothering my eyes and throat -- even inside. Might be a good time to dig out a mask if you must go out. Hard to believe, but yesterday some locals still hung clothes on lines outside to dry.

Saturday 6/10 the sun is shining brightly, no breeze to speak of and the sky is clear. 63 deg. and rising.

Unhealthy Air conditions Northern NY State

Hang in there everyone and lots of good advice about wearing your masks, using the recirculation setting on your car and changing your home furnace filters.

We here in the Pacific Northwest have had a few of these events over the past few years, so we know how you’re feeling.

This was September of 2020 from our spot at Pacific Shores MotorCoach resort.

Nasty stuff.

Sunday morning in the Finger Lakes region and the wind is out of the south. While its humid, the smoke is 100% gone. Usually prevailing winds here are south to west this time of year, not northeast. Hopefully it stays that way.
