Unreleased lien on a 1997 fleetwood bounder

Hello, I have been working on a case for some clients whose father passed away. He owned a 1997 fleetwood bounder. Now that the father has passed away, his children are looking to sell the RV. The problem I have been facing is that the RVs title has an unreleased lien on it. I can not figure out the lien creditor. According to my research, Fleetwood Credit Corporation was sold to Bank of America, but they havent been able to help me find this unreleased lien. Does anyone know where these liens went once Fleetwood sold its credit corporation? I have called the DMV, gone to DMV, called numerous creditors that seemed affiliated but none have any idea how to help me track this down.

You mention "working on a case for some clients." Are you a lawyer? I'd think you can't identify the party that filed the lien, it should be a matter of publishing a notice, wait the time required, and having a judge remove the lien. Not quick or easy, but I think that's the proper way to be able to sell the RV.

I'm no lawyer, but at this point, there is no case, IMO. It's a procedural system that gets through the hoops as attorneys know how to do.

A lien from 1997 without the family having stacks of letters from the creditor ...just doesn't exist.

The OP can hire an attorney to figure this out if the sales price is worth the expense of the title fix. Otherwise, part it out and it never happened.
