Wanted: info on east bound US4 in New England area.

We are currently in Goshen, In headed to the White Mountains in Campton, NH this weekend.

What is US 4 eastbound like between Queensbury, Vt and Campton, NH?

The Mountain Guide east edition only shows a 6% West outside of Rutland, Vt. for us4.

I'm driving a 43 ft motor home with a toad weighing at 45K approx.

Concerned with steep hills (climbing and descending) as well as sharp curves.

btw, I can take a more 'southern' route via I80, I84 and I93N into Campton as well, but at a cost of about 100 miles.

any info on rest stops along either route appreciated as well.

Just a couple of suggestions 480 and 271 is a couple of miles longer around Cleveland , but easier traffic . When you get to I 90 in Pa , take NY 17/ I 86 east and then I 88 in Binghamton . Some rough spots on 17 near allegany and cheap fuel at Exit 23 on NY 17.
Construction in Binghamton where 17 - 81 and 88 converge . Stay in left lane for I 81 and I 88 . 45 mph and usually enforced . .. I88 to Albany and join I 90 east and the I 87 north .. No toll for this short section of I 90.. then I 87 to exit 20 and rt ny 149 east to join Rt 4 . This was probably old news as you needed info from Queensbury east ..
Rt 4 the only steep hill is past Rutland as rt 4 goes over Killington Mt ski area , This would be no trouble for the average driver . After that point rt 4 is a typical New England road that has plenty of curves and some small towns and nice and scenic .
Not much in the way of rest areas but you may find a diner to pull into Not something I would count on . Last Interstate type of rest area is on I 87 just north of Albany. Sounds like a fun trip.
