STS-116 is scheduled for a night launch on Dec 7th at 9:38 pm. We have decided to go watch the launch.

We are going to take the MH to The Great Outdoors Dec 6-10 and will take in the launch on Dec 7th. We have tickets to go to the Space Center visitors center and will watch the launch from the center. This will be the closest that we have been to a launch and it will be the first night launch.

Will break out the big camera for photos.

If anyone is interested in tickets, you can go to the link below. We bought the package that includes dinner with an astronaut at 5:30 pm:

(There are a limited amount of tickets remaining)

Launch

I looked around but was unable to find out the number of planned missions. Apparently there are a few more. I have read in the past that the Shuttle will be retired somewhere in the 2010 to 2012 range.

Bob,

Just received my packet with the tickets, car pass etc. Maybe we will get a chance to meet at the dinner...

By the way, you have good taste in coaches...
