Way back when….Florida Boomers

Why back when this website first started out a few of us Baby Boomers in Florida started a group called Florida Boomers, later changed to Florida Cooters to be more inclusive.
We would all meet up at a campground for mostly 2 or 3 day rallies, many friendships were made and all generally had a great time.
The recession hit, time took a toll and a few members passed. Then Everone got very busy, and then this pandemic hit.
Well now fully vaccinated we are staring to venture out again.
So if the above “group” style mini rallies sounds of interest let’s meet at a Florida campground for a weekend.

If we still had the rig we'd be right there with you. Those were good times and resulted in many great memories. Still occasionally meet up with a couple of the old group. None of us are RVing anymore, but we still like to eat. Hope that some folks read this and help get the ball rolling again.

We RV and EAT!!

Anytime we could meet to eat OR RV would be great.
Maybe those that wish we could meet up in the Ocala / Gainesville area.

Back on the Road Again

Hi Lou & Robin,

I know we meet & Camped together at one time, not sure if it was a National Rally or a FL Cooters Rally, maybe even both! Although I was living fulltime in a travel trailer from Oct. 2013 thru March 2021, I had nothing to move it with. I now have a new Motorhome and would like to meet up with others and maybe do a FL Rally again !!

My recollection is that it was the rally at Stone Mountain. Don't think it was a National, must have been regional.

Well if your right about Stone Mountain, then it was a regional, but for some reason, I am thinking I meet them at Myrtle Beach also!

Oh well so many people, at so many events, at so many locations, it is hard to keep track!! Then again in the end, does it really matter when?? The important thing is it's just nice to be remembered !!!

Al, i recall going to a regional rally at Hunting Island SP on the SC coast. I believe this was the first IRV2 rally we ever attended. Richard ??? set this one up. He also did one up near GSMNP in a little CG just off 74 hiway. We lost a great guy and leader when he passed.
It would be great to see some of the folks from the old days. I know many have left us and others have stopped RVing. We have had Florida people come and stay at our place and have hooked up with other Floridians in Hiawassee when they were camping in N Georgia
Wish someone with organizational skills would organize a regional 'old timers' rally. We would attend.

Had to be Myrtle Beach

Probably the first National Rally I think.
I’m going to put on my thinking cap and see what I can come up with for a rally.
Initial thought, January Tampa RV Super Show?
