A special announcement from Madame Boomer

To my Texas Boomer family....

This is the most difficult announcement I’ve ever posted and I ask for your understanding as I share my heart with you. I have spent many months in thought, prayer and soul searching leading to announce my retirement as Wagonmaster for the Texas Boomers.

The old adage “for everything there is a reason and a season” is indeed true. This is not the ending I planned, however the “plan” for my life changed in the blink of an eye. Too many life-altering changes have happened during the past two years that have affected my mental, emotional and physical well-being. I know you have watched my struggle and there are no words to adequately express how sincerely I appreciate the love, prayers and support from my Boomer family through this difficult time in my life. I could not have made it thus far without you and I ask for continued prayers as I focus on the next chapter of my life.

My tenure as wagonmaster has been epic and memorable! It began in October of 2000 when I offered to organize a second rally of a small group of four rigs. Little did I know at the time that I would soon accept the mantle as founder of this fledgling RV club and with that came a vision of what the Texas Boomers would become. From those humble beginnings, a solid foundation has been steadfastly built on the principles inclusion rather than exclusion for members to gather for times of fun and fellowship in a welcoming atmosphere where lifelong friendships are made.

As the club grew, many Boomers have dedicated themselves to that vision as well. The club would not be what it is today without their commitment and I am deeply indebted for the support beams they have been to the club to ensure that vision continues.

My reason and my season has been fulfilled and I am now officially retired passing the mantle to Don Allen who has accepted the charge of becoming the Wagonmaster of the Texas Boomers RV Club. Don and Pat will continue to lead this great club with the same commitment to the vision and foundation they have dedicated themselves to for many years. I know the Boomers will be there to help them with all the organizational duties, rally planning and function of the club. You will become their support beams as they begin their journey in this new capacity.

Please know that I am not leaving the club. I will host my last rally at the upcoming Christmas Rally in Kerrville. After that, I plan attend as many rallies as I am able to, volunteer to help at each one and certainly participate in all the fun things that each rally brings.

My love for the Texas Boomers is forever and the lifelong friendships made will continue as each of you have a special place in my heart.

I’m blessed beyond measure and eternally grateful for an epic 21 year adventure!

Always
Madame Boomer

Sandy, I am searching for the proper words, but I do understand and have learned that change is constant and this is a change that you feel is time to make. I am sure we all understand and wish you the very best and as Bob Hope use to say, "Thanks for the Memories".

And to our new leaders, Don and Pat, LORD & LADY BOOMER, welcome and may your reign be long.

Oh my goodness Sandy. We fully understand the need to "retire" as your life over the last two years and really changed.

As original Boomers at that first rally with 4 couples, we never new the group would expand to what it is today. In our full-time travel, we regret that we have not been able to make but a rally or two a year. You have poured your heart and soul into the Texas Boomers and we all love what you have done.

You have our best wishes and love. Look forward to seeing you at Miller's Creek in August.

I am sure we will all try to keep Don and Pat on the straight and narrow.

Under the careful watch of Madame Boomer,
we have seen a fledgling little group of campers grow into one of the premier RV rally clubs in America.
The Texas Boomers are a bright star in irv2 land where they have seen our schedule, organization and attendance grow each year.

Pat and I count it as a blessing to have been a small part of that growth and achievement, supervised so well by Sandy, with total support from her wonderful husband Rusty for 19 of those 21 years. Rest In Peace dear friend.

To us, this club has become more of an extended family rather than just an organization that we get together with on occasion. As Sandy says we have all made so many lifelong friends here.

We won't even try to fill those big shoes that Sandy is stepping out of, but will do our very best to steer the club in the same direction and along the same path that she has taken it.

As the song goes "Goodbye is Not Forever" and that is the way we all feel as Sandy embarks in a new direction in her life. You have all our love and best wishes dear Madame!

Sharing

Sandy, “Madam Boomer,” Thank you for your welcome and support when we first met at the Bernet Rally. Without your sharing we may have never found the ‘Boomers’. We will always look forward to ‘glamping’ with y’all at future rallies.
