Dealers?
Wondering if anyone has purchased from either of the following and if you can share anything about the experience? (Pro/con)
Top Choice RV - Spring TX
Best PreOwned RV - Houston Tx
I like the fact they both pre-install hardwood floors. They could even be owned by same people for all I know. Haha. Im a woman buying on my own so try to be careful of those looking to take advantage (a double whammy when buying a large priced item of most any kind :(. )

No matter who you deal with, especially as a first time buyer, I would pay a independent RV tech to inspect the RV before you sign for it. If they have an issue with your independent inspector inspecting the RV, just walk away from that dealer/person.
An inspection could run $200 to $400, but could save much more in the long run. All too many dealers will try to take advantage of a woman and/or a first time buyer. They can smell the noobie and see the starts in your eyes. DO NOT accept their first offer as they will have the price jacked up.
Practically, you should not pay more than NADA Guides Low Retail with no options added. That is what they sell for on the used market. The dealer will try to show you a list with all the add on items to inflate the price.

Thanks Ken. Wouldn't it be great if there were professional negotiators we could take with us to buy? 😉

If we were back in the Houston area, I would be pleased to help you look, but we won't be back to the area until the end of November. Maybe some other Texas Boomers in area would step forward and offer some assistance.
If you do go forward, make sure the sales contract list every item promised by the salesman. Things are forgotten by sales and mean nothing if not in writing.

Hi,
I did travel down from Austin this past June to check out a Thor Ace at the Top Choice RV place.... cannot say I was very impressed. The MH was less than a year old with low miles but was pretty beat up, my salesman couldn't or wouldn't tell me its history/warranty info or spend time showing me it's workings (as this was going to be my 1st MH, I was very interested in "all" aspects) but he kept taking phone calls from other "prospective buyers" and telling me there was a line of people interested... I past on that one, glad I did as I found one in North Texas newer and cheaper a month later.
I think their coaches are either consignment or from auctions.
One note about the wooden floors they fit, yes they look nicer that the original vinyl but the fit/trim finish was very rough. Also on the one I looked at the "extra" thickness of the wood was interfering with the slide mechanisms (lower seals, door bottoms etc) and the wood was showing signs of wear because of this. And don't forget the extra weight this adds to the MH, weight= -mpg.
I wish you the best of luck in your search, there's alot to learn but I'm sure you will have many years of safe and happy travels
